About the role

What to Expect
The Wastewater Construction Manager oversees the field construction, installation, and commissioning of industrial and municipal wastewater treatment systems. This role coordinates contractors, enforces safety and quality standards, tracks schedule and budget, and ensures work is built to design drawings, specifications, and environmental permit requirements. Ideal for an early-career construction professional ready to own day-to-day delivery of wastewater infrastructure projects.
What You’ll Do

  • Manage day-to-day construction activities for wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, equalization tanks, piping, and related civil/mechanical packages
  • Coordinate general contractors, specialty trades (civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation), vendors, and inspectors to keep work sequenced and productive
  • Review drawings, specs, and RFIs; flag constructability issues early and drive timely resolution with engineering and design teams
  • Develop and maintain look-ahead schedules; track milestones, material deliveries, and long-lead equipment (pumps, clarifiers, blowers, membranes, controls)
  • Perform quality inspections of concrete, underground utilities, mechanical installation, welding, coatings, and electrical/I&C work; document punch lists and close-out
  • Support hydrostatic testing, leak testing, equipment setting, startup, and commissioning in coordination with operations and process engineers
  • Lead progress meetings with owners, engineers, and contractors; communicate risks, delays, and recovery plans clearly

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in construction management, Civil/Environmental/Mechanical Engineering, or related field — or equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years of construction management, field engineering, or superintendent experience on industrial, municipal, or process infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of construction means and methods for civil works, mechanical piping, and process equipment installation
  • Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, P&ID, mechanical, and electrical drawings
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; exposure to project tools (Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera/MS Project, or similar) preferred
  • Direct experience on wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), industrial pretreatment, or water/wastewater utility projects
  • Exposure to process systems such as primary/secondary treatment, MBR/MBBR, DAF, clarification, sludge handling, or chemical feed systems
