About the role

What to Expect

We are building Terafab, a vertically integrated semiconductor factory at an unprecedented scale. The facility houses logic, memory, packaging, test, and lithography mask production under one roof, optimized for rapid iteration and maximum compute density per square foot.

Tesla is seeking a Senior Construction Safety Specialist to join the Terafab Construction Safety team. Reporting to the Construction Safety Manager, you will provide on-site EHS support to Tesla construction teams and contractors, set clear safety expectations, and drive Tesla’s EHS standards in the field. You will influence and coach workers and partner contractors so risk is reduced in real time — not after the fact. This role is hands-on, field-based, and will require work in a fast-paced construction environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide field safety oversight on major infrastructure work; walk the job, coach safe work practices, and correct issues in the moment

  • Model Tesla EHS expectations in the field; train and coach construction teams and support staff on core EHS concepts that reduce risk

  • Participate in high-hazard work reviews before execution (e.g., critical lifts, confined space, high voltage, pressure testing, fall protection); review pre-work risk assessments and pre-task plans against the work in the field

  • Conduct proactive field and facility inspections; document findings in Tesla tools and close improvement actions with supervisors, managers, and stakeholders

  • Support construction and contractor safety meetings; advise project management on EHS requirements and practical field controls

  • Perform combined safety and environmental inspections and procedural audits; take immediate corrective action when needed and brief construction leadership and contractors on findings

  • Ensure work complies with applicable local, state, and federal health and safety regulations and Tesla EHS standards

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field; equivalent experience considered

  • GSP, ASP, or CHST preferred

  • 5+ years of experience supporting construction safety on large infrastructure, industrial, or manufacturing projects

  • Background in electrical, mechanical, process piping, or heavy civil work preferred

  • Working knowledge of OSHA, ISO, ANSI, NFPA, and ASTM standards applicable to construction

  • Clear communicator who can interface effectively across construction management, contractors, and cross-functional partners

  • Ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced, rapidly changing construction environment
