What to Expect

Tesla Vehicle Manufacturing Engineering is looking for a highly motivated joining engineer to create, develop and scale up joining processes for new programs. This role requires to work closely with Design Engineering to take joining process designs and implement design changes. It also requires working closely with cross-functional teams including internal and external to develop new joining setup, conduct equipment validation and launch the line from initial concept through prototype development and into full production.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate closely with Structures Design Engineering and CAE Engineering to support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) in future programs early in the design phase
  • This role will be involved in the design, development, commissioning and ramping of high-speed automated joining equipment, while working in a cross-functional team to test, validate, and roll-out process and product design changes
  • Plan and execute Do Es to characterize boundary conditions and optimize process for the joining manufacturability and quality
  • Drive cell reviews of process design, fixture design, simulations, cycle time plan, line layout, equipment maintenance strategy and optimizing towards high-speed limits
  • During launch, this role will lead equipment installation, commissioning, and ramp of high-volume production lines, ensuring close collaboration with Tesla’s partner vendors to deliver the line in the shortest possible time and within project budgets
  • Take direct responsibility for achieving joining quality targets and lead all activities towards this objective including the development of quality control plans, PFMEA and dimensional improvement plans
  • Collect and prepare the final documentation handover package to ensure the long-term sustainability and optimization of new production lines

What You’ll Bring
