This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of innovation and regulation, verifying product compliance with international standards while representing Tesla in bodies like IEC and CENELEC. By proactively influencing technical regulations and industry guidelines, you’ll directly shape the future of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), and Energy products across the EMEA region.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and lead the long-term regulatory and standards strategy for EV charging and Energy products across the EMEA region
  • Represent the company in key standards development organizations (e.g., IEC, CENELEC) and industry associations to actively shape future technical regulations
  • Author and publish technical white papers and position statements to establish industry thought leadership and inform internal strategy
  • Provide strategic counsel to Engineering, Production, and Leadership on the impact of emerging regulations, standards, and technology trends
  • Lead regulatory analysis and strategy for new market entry, identifying technical requirements, risks, and pathways for product approval
  • Proactively monitor and analyze new legislation and competitor activities to identify future risks and market access opportunities
  • Define and oversee the high-level compliance roadmap for the product portfolio to ensure alignment with long-term business objectives


  • What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a product compliance or regulatory engineering role
  • Expert-level knowledge of product safety standards applicable to energy products like Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), including the IEC/EN 61851 series, IEC/EN 62368-1, additional knowledge of standards for energy storage or power conversion systems is a plus
  • Deep, practical understanding of EMC and Radio regulations, including the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) and EMC Directive, with proven experience applying both harmonized standards (e.g., ETSI EN 301 489 series) and the underlying generic test standards (e.g., IEC/EN 61000 series)
  • Experience in leading regulatory intelligence and scoping for new market entry, providing clear strategic recommendations to leadership
  • Proven ability to lead product certification projects from start to finish, including budget, timeline, and relationship management with third-party test labs and Notified Bodies for CE/UKCA
  • Previous involvement in shaping industry standards (e.g. with IEC, CENELEC, ETSI), with the ability to represent company interests and the willingness to travel to test labs and events across EMEA and the US as needed
  • Strong communication skills to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable engineering tasks to ensure compliance-ready designs
