What to Expect
The Engineering Technician supports engineering projects by performing experiments in active materials research and development for Li-ion batteries. This role requires hands-on work in a chemistry lab environment, operation of chemical analysis instruments, and close collaboration with engineers to advance materials development.
What You’ll Do
- Perform hands-on tasks including material synthesis, characterization, milling, and accurate data recording
- Execute experiments as instructed while working closely with engineers
- Handle air-sensitive and hazardous materials using glove boxes, dry rooms, or fume hoods
- Operate materials characterization equipment such as XRD, SEM, PSD, and BET
- Manage synthesis and milling equipment
- Maintain lab safety and operational efficiency
- Report process issues and assist with problem solving
What You’ll Bring
- 2+ years experience synthesizing air-sensitive materials and handling hazardous chemicals
- Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Understanding of equipment handling and operation
- Above average manual dexterity and visual acuity for delicate assembly tasks
- Working knowledge of Windows and MS Office
- Ability to perform hands-on tasks
- Good communication skills and experience working with Li-ion battery materials preferred
