About the role

What to Expect
Tesla’s Factory Design team designs and develops future factories and is at the fore front of automation for all material flow. This includes managing Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRSs), conveyor systems, and many other cutting-edge automations.
This role will support the successful design and launch of AMR technology as part of the PMO, offering an exciting opportunity to drive real impact at the intersection of robotics, software, material flow, and data, ensuring project alignment with broader timelines, stakeholder communication, and execution. Strong program management skills are essential for leading great robot design, identifying new features, generating insights, managing Capex and maintaining program updates for engineers and leadership.

The ideal candidate combines technical expertise, program management skills, and a data-driven mindset to optimize execution and decision-making. Strong engineering and project management fundamentals are required to work in a demanding and fast-paced environment as part of a strong, flexible, and highly motivated team to accomplish some of the most ambitious projects being attempted in any industry today.

The team operates in CA, TX, and NV with frequent travel to Tesla factories.

What You’ll Do

  • Project Tracking & Risk Management: Maintain a clear overview of all ongoing AMR projects, identify risks early, and drive mitigation strategies. Clearly communicate priorities cross functionally and ensure product expectations are aligned

  • Data Analytics & Impact Assessment: Analyze robotic fleet performance, assess product impact, and translate findings into actionable insights with easy visualization of data

  • Product Readiness & Testing: Understand requirements, prepare a long-term vision for product validation and evaluate the product’s performance through testing to ensure its readiness for production

  • Process Optimization: Contribute to continuously refining material flow processes and enhance productivity, collaboration, and execution speed. Be ready and willing to pivot as needed keeping in mind engineering preferences

  • Business development: Identify new areas and scope for the AMRs within material flow processes, explore new features, and drive efficiency across material delivery

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management Information systems or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years technical experience in program or project management preferably in robotics and automation

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to synthesize complex technical information into clear, concise reports and presentations

  • Strong understanding of software development processes, tools, and experience with one or more high-level and low-level programming languages
