Megapack is Tesla’s fastest-growing product and is proving increasingly critical to supporting today’s unprecedented load growth from electrification and new AI data centers. Our team ensures the software glue holding everything together is reliable, secure and scalable for our current and upcoming industrial storage products.

We build solutions for firmware updates, advanced commissioning and diagnostic tools, site networking, secure control communications and other middleware. Candidates may have deeper experience in embedded and low-level systems or in networking, communication protocols and security. Strong programming knowledge, excellent debugging skills and the ability to ramp up quickly are critical to success in this role.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and build a variety of features, tooling and drivers for Megapack system software
  • Contribute across areas such as embedded systems, networking, firmware updates, diagnostics and middleware
  • Develop secure and high-performance communication capabilities for Megapack devices and site networks
  • Build and maintain software for embedded network switches, communication stacks and network management
  • Support board bring-up and firmware development for current and upcoming products
  • Diagnose and resolve complex software, networking and hardware-related issues
  • Develop new features while maintaining and improving existing system software
  • Work closely with Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Applications, QA, Validation and Manufacturing teams

What You’ll Bring

  • 2+ years of experience developing embedded systems, networking software or other system software
  • Strong programming ability in C, C++, Rust, Go, Java or another relevant language
  • Strong systems-programming knowledge and excellent debugging skills
  • Experience developing and owning new software or firmware features
  • Experience working with Linux, operating systems, networking or other low-level software
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly and contribute across a broad technical environment
  • Experience with embedded Linux, firmware, drivers or operating-system internals preferred
  • Experience with network switches, Ethernet, VLANs, redundancy protocols, communication stacks or secure communications preferred
  • Knowledge of technologies such as I2C, SPI, CAN, UDS, TCP/UDP, IPv6, protobuf or gRPC preferred
  • Experience with hardware debugging, system schematics, board bring-up or container technologies preferred
