Staff Supply Chain Manager, Memory
About the role
What to Expect
Tesla's supply chain team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Supply Chain Manager with deep expertise in memory components. This role requires a unique combination of strategic supply chain management and hands-on technical memory engineering experience. You will lead end-to-end supply chain responsibilities for memory components including HBM, DRAM, UFS, and other advanced memory technologies critical to Tesla's computing and product needs. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to drive vendor qualification, cost optimization, technology roadmap alignment, NPI and high-volume production enablement. This role reports to the Supply Chain Group Manager and serves as a strategic resource supporting memory for Tesla's various product lines including vehicles, energy products, and computing platforms.
What You’ll Do
-
Own end-to-end supply chain management for memory components from early engineering design influence through production ramp, high-volume manufacturing, and end of life
-
Lead RFQ processes ensuring all commercial terms are agreed and documented, including Non-Disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions, Piece Price Agreements, and related contracts
-
Drive best-in-class pricing for memory commodities through strategic negotiations, cost modeling, and should-cost analysis based on deep understanding of memory manufacturing processes (wafer fabrication, die processing, packaging, assembly, test)
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize power, performance, area, and cost for memory components including HBM, DRAM, UFS, and emerging memory technologies
-
Evaluate and implement latest memory technologies and best known methods into Tesla's products
-
Qualify and develop strategic vendors who can create long-term impact in scaling Tesla's products while driving continuous cost reduction
-
Drive qualified vendors to reduce defects and sustain high-volume manufacturing at reduced PPM levels, ensuring best-in-class quality standards
-
Lead system yield improvement initiatives by debugging memory-related problems through cross-functional collaboration with Engineering and Quality teams
-
Develop and execute comprehensive category management strategies including business plans, market analysis, technology roadmaps, cost modeling, and sourcing strategies
-
Monitor global memory industry trends, track technology roadmaps, and proactively identify and mitigate supply and demand challenges
What You’ll Bring
-
10+ years of combined experience in memory supply chain management and/or memory technical engineering roles supporting NPI and high-volume manufacturing
-
Deep commercial and technical understanding of memory supply chain and manufacturing processes including process development, memory debug, memory qualification, and reliability improvements
-
Proven experience in collaborating with external vendors and enabling new memory technologies in production environments
-
Proficient knowledge of technical requirements, design specifications, and datasheets for memory components with ability to influence cross-functional partners through detailed technical and commercial analysis
-
Demonstrated ability to generate should-cost models for memory parts
-
Ability to resolve ambiguity, adapt to fast-paced environments, and drive results in highly dynamic technical and commercial landscapes
-
Effective communication skills and ability to work with geographically distributed teams including both technical and commercial stakeholders
-
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
