About the role
What to Expect
This is an opportunity to become part of a fast-growing, world-class organization supporting the latest energy technologies. We are setting the standard that will continue to transform and revolutionize the EV fast charging industry and commercial energy storage The Tooling, Process & Training team is responsible for developing the hardware and processes used during service & commissioning. This skilled and motivated individual will keep pushing this evolving energy industry forward by collaborating with engineers, leading manufacturing of local service driven hardware, and deploying vertically designed mobile battery units in areas of need.
What You’ll Do
- Design and construct electrical panels (wiring diagrams, harness assembly, off-the-shelf component selection/integration, and related systems) for high-performance energy solutions, with clear process definitions and process-flow visualizations so builds stay repeatable
- Own end-to-end process and manufacturing for hardware: order components, fabricate custom elements (cables, PCBAs), assemble, quality-control, and ship to deployment sites; define and refine layouts and process flows to get more output with less space and fewer resources
- Audit documentation and manufacturing/field processes to surface recurring field patterns and product gaps; document electrical and mechanical design feedback meticulously and drive proactive fixes, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing
- Manage connectors, crimping, and wire harnesses (build, route, integrate into complex assemblies); lead surge builds by coordinating parts, space, and team resources when demand spikes
- Develop procedures for manufacturing and application engineering that are safe, scalable, and first-time-user friendly—including process maps and visual workflows that cut risk and ambiguity
- Partner with program management, field support, customers, EHS, technical publications, service engineering, and product design; train and coach manufacturing and field teams on builds, processes, and tools; use software tools (issue tracking, CAD/docs, spreadsheets, automation) to organize work, track actions, and keep personal and team streams efficient
What You’ll Bring
- Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 25% of the time) to commissioning sites, deployments, and Gigafactories, with a flexible, global operational mindset
- Hands-on judgment — Resourceful, scrappy problem-solving and a passion for renewables, microgrids, and diesel-generator replacement—plus the ability to make sound on-site decisions under changing site layouts, loads, and existing circuit protections. Ability to root cause user pain points & effectively document actionable findings for communication with engineering teams
- Strength in defining processes and process-flow visuals; use documentation and process audits to catch field patterns and product gaps before they scale. Bringing proactive disposition to accelerate the team's work
- Strong coaching skills, leveraging firsthand experience with Tesla products and tools to transfer technical knowledge effectively
- Clear liaison with engineers and technical peers when SOPs or manufacturing docs need deviation or update; leadership in world-class quality across electromechanical assemblies and workspaces
- Deliberate use of software tools (task systems, documentation platforms, CAD/data tools, lightweight automation) to prioritize work, reduce rework, and keep personal work streams optimized under pressure
