About the role

What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Associate Maintenance Manager who will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational availability of our advanced 4680 battery cell manufacturing equipment. You'll have the opportunity to lead all facets of the new 24/7 critical production line equipment and maintenance teams as an innovator and change agent.

You will have the opportunity to build upon previous successes and take our Equipment Maintenance team to the next level by collaborating with cross-functional teams and department leaders to address concerns and issues that affect part quality, production efficiency, work cell ergonomics, and equipment maintenance.

What You’ll Do

  • Direct leadership of 4 maintenance crews covering a 24/7 operating facility, providing direction for the entire maintenance organization on daily, weekly, and monthly tasks and execution
  • Responsibility for manpower management: day-to-day line support, in-house repair work, vacation, budget reporting, budget management, overtime spend, and weekend work scheduling
  • Collaborate with Production and Engineering groups in continuous improvement activities to lead and manage multi-level projects
  • Develop and maintain standard work documentation and job responsibility expectations for all roles within the Maintenance organization
  • Procedures and PMs: develop and maintain proper documentation of all necessary procedures, periodic maintenance tasks, equipment changes (electrical, spare parts upgrades, mechanical), etc.
  • Oversee the training and skill competency certification of technicians within the maintenance organization
  • Lead staffing requirements through growth and sustaining phases by executing on talent acquisition and performance management

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Previous experience required in leadership of direct-report staff
  • Demonstrated skills in the following areas: breakdown management and follow-up action to prevent repeat occurrences, TPM/PM development and implementation, equipment spare parts management, OEE % improvement
  • Excellent knowledge of key manufacturing safety principles: hazardous energy types, isolation of energy, job hazard analysis, process safety management
  • Lean manufacturing skills and systems development utilizing a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Project management experience with equipment installation, overhaul, and improvement projects
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
