Field Support Engineer
About the role
What to Expect
The Industrial Storage OPX team exists to make field service technicians more capable, better supported, and more clearly heard. As a Field Support Engineer, you are the front line of that mission — owning the quick-turn operational work that keeps the IS fleet healthy while feeding the intelligence that drives longer-term systemic improvements.
What You’ll Do
-
Action sustaining tickets — Resolve site-level data corrections, PM report issues, and operational fixes across the North America Industrial Storage fleet within 1–2 week turnaround targets
-
Track containment execution — Follow up with field teams on containment and retrofit completion, flag overdue actions, and report status to domain TPMs
-
Coordinate pilots and rollouts — Work with FSTs and field managers to execute OPX-designed pilots, collect structured feedback, and track rollout adherence
-
Triage incoming Take Charges — Participate in the team's triage rotation: label, score, and route field improvement submissions to the correct domain owner
-
Surface patterns — Identify when individual fixes point to a systemic problem and flag them for escalation into multi-quarter improvement initiatives
What You’ll Bring
-
Experience in field service operations, technical support, or process improvement — ideally within energy, utilities, or industrial equipment
-
Comfort working across data systems (ticketing platforms, asset databases, dashboards) to diagnose and resolve operational issues
-
Strong organizational skills — you manage a high volume of short-cycle work without losing track of follow-ups
-
Clear written and verbal communication — you interact daily with field technicians, regional managers, and program managers
-
Pattern recognition instinct — you notice when the same issue keeps appearing and know when to escalate rather than just fix-and-forget
-
Ability to operate with autonomy in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift based on field urgency
-
Willingness to learn Tesla specific tools, processes and systems quickly and deeply
