Tesla is seeking an ambitious EHS Specialist to support our growth in the Southern Europe Region. The EHS Specialist will be based either in Barcelona or Lisbon and will report to the EHS Regional Leader.

The EHS Specialist is responsible for complex organizational and technical work in a wide range of EHS disciplines.

The EHS Specialist will support day-to-day operations, of our growing network of Tesla Sales, Services, Deliveries, by coordination and support of stakeholders, projects and processes within his scope. EHS disciplines such as personal protective equipment, safety training, emergency response, incident reporting, emergency equipment, risk assessments, 5S and audits.

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist with the development, implementation and coordination of EHS in operations driven by systems, projects and programs. This position will play a key role in the incident reporting and analysis process and work closely with supervisors to develop and implement corrective actions in preventing injuries. He or she will also work with managers, supervisors and safety representatives to implement best practices for improvement of overall EHS.

The focus is achieving compliance and risk control within the company’s and regulatory agencies’ standards in environmental, health and safety.

You will use human and organizational principles to drive ownership of safety, health, and environmental impacts, with a focus on engagement, learning from events, training, and system-level problem solving.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze incident trends and use risk-assessment methods to identify continuous improvement projects that reduce injury, illness, and environmental impact events.
  • Interface with local regulatory agencies on compliance, permitting, reporting and related issues.
  • Be a visible model in the field and teach, train and coach business teams and support staff on fundamental EHS concepts and principles to reduce risk, and influence, inspire and empower business teams and staff to minimize the risk per our Tesla EHS vision, values, and principles.
  • Develop and maintain a partnership with and serve as a key advisor on EHS matters to Tesla operations leaders and stakeholders, associates, EHS members, and contracting partners.
  • Conduct proactive and zero-blame, learning-focused field observations to verify that work in progress meets EHS goals and document findings.
  • Identify operational gaps and creative solution facilitation, including identifying key stakeholders and driving innovative EHS solutions with cross-functional teams.

What You'll Bring

  • Academic degree in the field of Environmental, Health and Safety
  • Ideally a relevant work experience in environmental, health & safety in Spain or Portugal or Europe.
  • Certification Technician PRL (Tecnico PRL) required
  • Knowledge of country based work regulations, and requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal language skills in English and Spain, Portuguese would be a plus.
  • Proactive as well as detail and result oriented with strong desire to succeed.
  • Strong interpersonal, communicative and stakeholder relationship skills
  • Flexible in time management and willingness to regional and international travel up to 50% of the time
