The Role

The Financial Services and Insurance Manager role will be focused on supporting Tesla’s sales and vehicle service businesses in Japan. This will entail data and market analytics, product design and development, as well as effective execution of compliant financial services solutions leveraging external finance partners while coordinating with internal stakeholders. The role will also require candidates to be creative and possess the strong business acumen needed to be able to identify new opportunities in the area of Financial Services to benefit the Company. It is crucial for the candidate to be highly organized and confident in managing several projects within set deadlines, as well as maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify, review, establish, and develop all Finance partner relationships in the specified region
  • Identify, negotiate, develop, and execute innovative solutions leveraging partnerships to support sales or marketing initiatives and drive business growth
  • Ensuring day-to-day business operations between internal and external stakeholders are aligned to achieve business objectives
  • Support in-market teams to eliminate potential roadblocks and leverage opportunities for integrated financial services solutions to drive business growth
  • Setup and implement KPIs to effectively measure and monitor partners’ performance to support decision-making and performance enhancement
  • Coordinate with IT on integration projects to deliver innovative customer service solutions
  • Understanding and awareness of international and local financial and business market environments
  • Awareness on local laws and regulations around the financial industry
  • Strong business acumen to identify new opportunities to develop the Finance business
  • Support the development of integrated Financial Services training programs
  • Provide regular updates on partners’ performance through quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Take responsibility to ensure that the highest standards of ethic, including regulatory and business conduct, are met


  • Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in the Financial Services industry. Experience working in a start-up environment, auto-industry, or management consulting a plus.
  • Proven track record in partnership and project management
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as a strong negotiator
  • Demonstrated aptitude in problem-solving and data analytics, with proficiency in Excel. Proficiency in SQL a plus
  • Business-level written and verbal proficiency in Japanese and English a must.
  • Highly organized individual with attention to detail and the flexibility to adapt to change
  • A self-starter and proactive individual able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • A team player who is able to work and collaborate with multiple functions across the organization to achieve Company goals
  • Results-orientated and dependable individual who enjoys the challenges of a rapidly evolving global organization
  • Willingness to travel


  • Other Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Economics or related field from a reputable university
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
  • Possess the highest level of integrity and accountability
