What to Expect

Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg is a key milestone in Europe for Tesla’s mission to accelerate sustainable energy, launching revolutionary products at a massive scale with speed, innovation, and efficiency. Join our team to shape this success.

The Mechanical HVAC/Plumbing Design team aligns the factory with Tesla’s goals by designing sustainable systems for vehicle production and inspiring workspaces, including ventilation (general, lab, kitchen, dust collection, VOC abatement, smoke exhaust, dry air, clean room), heating (process and domestic), cooling (chilled/process water, heat pumps), and water systems (potable, industrial, sewage, vacuum drainage, gray/rainwater).

As a Mechanical Design Intern, you'll join our expert engineering team to develop designs across production buildings (e.g., General Assembly, Casting, Cell) and people’s spaces (offices, canteens), creating construction drawings, schematics, BOQs, calculations, and as-built documentation—driving designs as fast as our cars accelerate.

What You'll Do

  • Create construction drawings using Revit and AutoCAD according to VDI 6026 LPH 5 standard
  • Implement as-built documents and review field changes
  • Generate equipment schedules, Bill Of Quantities (BOQs) from Revit
  • Create schematics/P&IDs for mechanical systems using AutoCAD
  • Perform hydraulic calculations using PipeFlo and thermal load calculations with HAP software
  • Work and maintain the 3D Revit model of our Gigafactory, by working closely with team members and aligning with the mechanical engineer to translate the conceptual design into executable 3D designs
  • Solve clashes within the Revit model to ensure the design is coordinated across all disciplines
  • Coordinate the mechanical systems in the Revit model with laser scans showing current installation
  • Review models and clashes in Navisworks software
  • Site visits

  • What You'll Bring

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Experience in modelling and detailing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing systems is a plus
  • Revit and AutoCAD skills
  • Following software expertise is a plus: Navisworks, BIM360, Bluebeam
  • Proficient in English, German language skills preferred or willing to learn
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving oriented
  • Ability to work in a team as well as in an organized and independent manner
  • Analyzing problems and find solutions in a structured way
