As a Controls Technician, you will identify and fix faults in advanced automated production systems, with an emphasis on control technologies for optimal performance. You will work hands-on with Siemens PLC systems, industrial robots (Fanuc & KUKA), and complex production machinery to keep our manufacturing lines running at peak reliability.

You will carry out repairs, maintenance, servicing, and conversions on production equipment, ensure compliance with specifications and high standards, and actively support preventive maintenance programs to minimize interruptions and maximize uptime.

What You’ll Do

  • Program, modify, and commission Siemens PLC controls using TIA Portal (STEP 7, WinCC, ladder logic / SCL / FBD)
  • Work with industrial robots — Fanuc and KUKA — including teach pendant operation, program adjustments, fault diagnosis, and basic path/process optimization
  • Use expertise in converter technology (VFDs/inverters), servo drives, and control systems to troubleshoot and implement effective solutions
  • Carry out repairs, maintenance, servicing, and conversions on production machinery in line with specifications and quality standards
  • Support and execute preventive maintenance programs to maintain control system reliability and minimize unplanned downtime
  • Keep accurate documentation of all maintenance, modifications, servicing, damage reports, and troubleshooting activities
  • Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams during ramp-ups, changeovers, and continuous improvement activities
  • Uphold and actively promote sustainability principles in daily work, operating in line with the Tesla Global Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Policy and EMAS requirements, fostering a culture of continuous environmental improvement

  • Strong hands-on experience with Siemens PLC controls and TIA Portal (programming, troubleshooting, commissioning)
  • Very good knowledge of industrial robotics — Fanuc and/or KUKA (operation, teaching, fault finding, basic programming)
  • Knowledge of safety PLCs / safety circuits (e.g. PROFIsafe, Pilz, Sick)
  • Experience with HMI systems (WinCC, Comfort Panels) and SCADA
  • Familiarity with drive technology (SINAMICS, SEW, Bosch Rexroth, etc.)
  • Solid knowledge of control engineering, pneumatics, hydraulics, and fieldbus systems (PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Ether Net/IP, etc.)
  • Experience maintaining production plants / automated manufacturing equipment
  • Solid technical understanding and practical hands-on skills
  • Willingness to work shifts in a fully continuous (24/7) model
  • Good English skills required; German skills desirable
