What to Expect

Tesla's mission is to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy, enabling a world of amazing abundance. The Product Manager, Home Charging Software will be a key member of the Residential Energy Products team that is responsible for delivering innovative products and features to generate, store, and consume sustainable energy at a customer’s home. This role will be focused on defining and launching the software features and experiences needed to scale Tesla’s Home Charging product line (Wall Connector, Mobile Connector, and Powershare). Specifically, this role will deliver a market-leading home charging experience for customers, installers, and support people; lower the cost of EV ownership through intelligently designed smart charging features; make Wall Connector a great entry point into the Tesla Energy ecosystem; and expand Wall Connector to new markets and applications.

This is a multi-faceted role where flexibility to apply your skills to a variety of projects and changing product needs is a must. The ability to understand customer and market desires, and a solid technical foundation in connected device software and electrical engineering concepts, is expected. What You’ll Do

  • Build and prioritize the Home Charging software roadmap to grow product adoption, and support the Vehicle and Powerwall businesses
  • Identify underlying customer and technical problems and create detailed product requirements that solve for our three core users: system owners, installers, and support/service providers
  • Conduct fleet, market, and competitor analysis, as well as end-user interviews, to drive data-driven, customer-centric decisions and feature development
  • Partner with engineering through technical design decisions and tradeoffs — bridging user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility for device firmware, connectivity, and cloud/app experiences
  • Navigate a dynamic regulatory environment to shape energy policy and minimize the impact of onerous requirements on product design
  • Define and execute pilot plans analyze results, and iterate to improve feature performance and user experience
  • Establish thoughtful product and feature success metrics and track performance against goals
  • Communicate and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders — including executives, engineering managers, service/support, sales/ops, and customers — and develop clear presentations that drive cross-functional alignment

What You’ll Bring

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Product Manager, with a focus on device software, embedded systems, firmware, or connected IoT products
  • Ability to leverage technical knowledge, analytical skills, and customer empathy to bridge user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, enabling deep collaboration with cross-functional teams and clear executive communication
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in parallel with strong attention to detail and organization
  • Technical understanding of EV charging and/or home energy products, the electricity grid and energy markets
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Passionate about accelerating the transition to sustainable energy
  • Ability to work in office in Palo Alto
