Lead Equipment Technician, Optimus
About the role
What to Expect
We are seeking a motivated and team-oriented Lead Equipment Tech to support our data collection hardware team. The ideal candidate is an experienced assembler and troubleshooter who is ready to take a facilitative step forward — supporting teammates, coordinating daily work, and acting as the first point of contact on shift. This is not a purely supervisory role; you will remain hands-on while helping the team stay organized, unblocked, and operating at a high quality standard.
- Shifts: 08:00AM - 4:30PM; Monday
- Friday
What You’ll Do
-
Assemble prototype and production-level data collection hardware alongside the team, modeling quality and consistency in every build
-
Act as the first point of contact on shift for team members with work-related questions, resolving day-to-day issues independently before escalating to leadership
-
Coordinate and delegate tasks across the team to keep workflows moving efficiently and ensure priorities are met
-
Support and train teammates on assembly procedures, wire harness builds, and hardware inspection standards — reinforcing best practices and raising the overall skill level of the team
-
Maintain a supportive role for the shift supervisor — proactively flagging issues, communicating team status, and proposing solutions rather than just surfacing problems
-
Help develop and maintain manufacturing best practices and standard procedures, identifying opportunities to reduce errors and downtime
-
Utilize internal tracking tools to manage hardware issues and communicate status clearly across the team and to stakeholders
What You’ll Bring
-
Proven hands-on experience in a manufacturing or production environment with strong technical aptitude — you are the person teammates turn to for answers
-
Solid understanding of hardware assembly, wire harness construction, and equipment inspection with the ability to train others effectively
-
A collaborative, team-first mindset — you proactively help teammates, share information openly, and create an inclusive work environment
-
Strong communication skills with the ability to relay information clearly both up (to supervisors) and across (to teammates)
-
Organized and dependable — able to manage multiple tasks, delegate when needed, and keep the team on track without losing your own quality of work
-
Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to catching and flagging issues early
