What to Expect

You will develop optimization and financial models to evaluate product economics while supporting new commercial offerings across Tesla's energy ecosystem — including retail electricity, Virtual Power Plant (VPP) programs, Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), and Home Energy Management (HEMs) solutions.
The ideal candidate will thrive in Tesla's fast-paced, mission-driven environment, combining expertise in energy market analysis and techno-economic modeling with a collaborative mindset. Your ability to translate data-driven insights into strategic recommendations will shape Tesla's residential energy portfolio and partnership development across Europe.

What You’ll Do

Techno-Economic Modeling:

  • Develop energy optimization and financial models for Tesla's residential energy products (Solar, Powerwall, V2X systems) to evaluate and maximize economic value
  • Analyze utility tariffs and wholesale electricity markets to assess distributed energy resource value and inform VPP/V2X strategies
  • Develop business cases to support VPP market prioritization and launches across Europe, including competitive intelligence and offer structure recommendations
  • Perform policy analysis to understand regulatory impacts on residential energy products and forecast market trends to guide product positioning

Commercial Offerings & Partnership Support:

  • Support retail electricity provider partnerships through techno-economic modeling and value quantification
  • Analyze and structure retail electricity offers, including bundled solutions across the Tesla energy ecosystem (Solar + Powerwall + V2X + retail supply)
  • Support VPP and V2X go-to-market strategies with data-driven analysis, competitive positioning assessments, and partnership value quantification
  • Evaluate bundled Tesla Energy offerings (e.g., Powerwall standalone, integrated solar+storage, V2X) to drive sales and inform cross-functional strategies
  • Collaborate with product, sales, policy, and business development teams to identify new markets and product opportunities, expanding residential solar and storage globally

What You’ll Bring

  • 4+ years of experience in the electricity industry with demonstrated expertise in energy product economics

  • Strong financial modeling and quantitative analysis skills; proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and model development

  • Experience with optimization frameworks and techno-economic analysis tools

  • Ability to structure complex business problems into analytical frameworks with clear assumptions and constraints

  • Excellent communication skills to present technical findings to executive stakeholders and support partnership negotiations

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering , economics, finance, or related technical field or equivalent experience and demonstration of excellence

  • High proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Preferred:

  • 7+ years electricity industry experience with progressive responsibility in energy economics
  • Proven track record developing battery optimization models or energy storage valuation frameworks
  • Familiarity with V2X/VPP modeling and European retail electricity markets, including demand response programs and DSO/TSO service contracts
  • Advanced skills in statistical analysis, machine learning, or energy market simulation tools
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives through complex regulatory environments and support partnership development
  • Graduate degree in a quantitative field (MBA, MS in Energy Systems, etc.); fluency in another European language
