What to Expect
You will develop optimization and financial models to evaluate product economics while supporting new commercial offerings across Tesla's energy ecosystem — including retail electricity, Virtual Power Plant (VPP) programs, Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), and Home Energy Management (HEMs) solutions.

What You’ll Do
Techno-Economic Modeling:
- Develop energy optimization and financial models for Tesla's residential energy products (Solar, Powerwall, V2X systems) to evaluate and maximize economic value
- Analyze utility tariffs and wholesale electricity markets to assess distributed energy resource value and inform VPP/V2X strategies
- Develop business cases to support VPP market prioritization and launches across Europe, including competitive intelligence and offer structure recommendations
- Perform policy analysis to understand regulatory impacts on residential energy products and forecast market trends to guide product positioning
Commercial Offerings & Partnership Support:
- Support retail electricity provider partnerships through techno-economic modeling and value quantification
- Analyze and structure retail electricity offers, including bundled solutions across the Tesla energy ecosystem (Solar + Powerwall + V2X + retail supply)
- Support VPP and V2X go-to-market strategies with data-driven analysis, competitive positioning assessments, and partnership value quantification
- Evaluate bundled Tesla Energy offerings (e.g., Powerwall standalone, integrated solar+storage, V2X) to drive sales and inform cross-functional strategies
- Collaborate with product, sales, policy, and business development teams to identify new markets and product opportunities, expanding residential solar and storage globally
What You’ll Bring

4+ years of experience in the electricity industry with demonstrated expertise in energy product economics

Strong financial modeling and quantitative analysis skills; proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and model development

Experience with optimization frameworks and techno-economic analysis tools

Ability to structure complex business problems into analytical frameworks with clear assumptions and constraints

Excellent communication skills to present technical findings to executive stakeholders and support partnership negotiations

Bachelor's degree in engineering , economics, finance, or related technical field or equivalent experience and demonstration of excellence

High proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Preferred:
- 7+ years electricity industry experience with progressive responsibility in energy economics
- Proven track record developing battery optimization models or energy storage valuation frameworks
- Familiarity with V2X/VPP modeling and European retail electricity markets, including demand response programs and DSO/TSO service contracts
- Advanced skills in statistical analysis, machine learning, or energy market simulation tools
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives through complex regulatory environments and support partnership development
- Graduate degree in a quantitative field (MBA, MS in Energy Systems, etc.); fluency in another European language
