About the role

What to Expect
The Lead Electrical QA Inspector is the QA Manager’s primary field representative for electricalrelated activities (e.g., installation, wiring/termination, testing), verifying conformance to
engineering designs, codes, and Tesla standards. This position will lead a team of field QA
inspectors, oversee surveillance and audits, perform inspections as needed, while supporting the
QA Manager in achieving project quality objectives.
What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage QA inspection activities across the project; direct field QA inspectors in independent audits and inspections, ensuring all contractor QC activities conform to specifications, ITPs, and applicable codes and standards (e.g., IEEE, NETA ATS, NEC/NFPA 70, NEMA)
  • Mentor, train, and evaluate field QA inspectors; provide technical direction and on-the job training to ensure inspectors are qualified, knowledgeable, and proficient in accordance with project QA procedures
  • Oversee the review and evaluation of contractor QC documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements; identify systemic gaps and escalate findings to the QA Manager with recommended corrective action and process improvements
  • Lead audit and surveillance of contractor and subcontractor QC systems; prepare audit reports and nonconformances with root-cause analysis and corrective/preventative recommendations for the QA Manager
  • Coordinate and oversee key electrical testing and inspection activities (e.g. installation/mounting, wiring/termination, continuity/insulation resistance); confirm contractor QC tests are performed correctly, at the required frequency, and meet project specifications and code acceptance criteria
  • Lead investigation and resolution of complex QA issues; drive root-cause analysis, corrective action, verification, and nonconformance closure per the project QA program
  • Maintain QA documentation and reporting to the QA Manager, contractor QC, and project leadership; track quality trends, systemic issues, and lessons learned to support continuous improvement of the QA program throughout all phases of the project lifecycle

What You’ll Bring

  • Current Journeyman Electrician License
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience as a quality inspector on large-scale industrial projects with at least 3 years in a supervisory / lead capacity and 3+ years of experience as a client/owner quality representative
  • Ability to read and interpret discipline-specific technical documents; communicate clearly with field QA inspectors, contractor QC, and the QA manager on findings, audits, and corrective actions
  • Advanced knowledge of QA program requirements and key construction codes (e.g., IEEE, NETA ATS, NEC/NFPA 70, NEMA); advanced familiarity with inspection tools and methods (e.g., multimeter, megger/insulation resistance, ammeter, voltage tester)
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to lead the investigation, analysis, and resolution of complex/systemic quality issues; present root-cause findings and corrective/preventive recommendations to the QA Manager
  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of quality management principles and the ability to apply and enforce them throughout all phases of the project and system turnover walkdowns
  • Ability to lead and perform effectively within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive commissioning goals
