Technical Program Manager, PM & Asset Lifecycle, Industrial Storage OPX
About the role
What to Expect
We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to own the PM & Asset Lifecycle domain within Tesla’s Industrial Storage Operational Excellence (OPX) team. In this role, you will be the end-to-end owner of preventive maintenance operations, asset data integrity, and PM compliance across Tesla’s commercial-scale energy storage fleet.
You will manage all three initiative types within your domain — reactive work (Change Control such as PM data corrections and process fixes), proactive work (New Product Launch such as MP2XL PM cutovers and new site PM campaign setups), and measurement-driven work (Metrics-Driven Improvement such as PM compliance rate analysis and contractual adherence tracking).
You will drive initiatives through the IS OPX Initiative Lifecycle — from Intake through Scope, Execute, and Deploy.
What You’ll Do
-
Own the PM & Asset Lifecycle domain end-to-end: preventive maintenance operations, reporting, compliance, operating year tracking, billing tool discrepancies, and equipment-level warranty improvements
-
Drive initiatives through the IS OPX Initiative Lifecycle (Intake, Scope, Execute, Deploy), defining adoption, success and measurement criteria
-
Define business requirements and success criteria for PM Tracker logic fixes and data quality improvements, partnering to scope technical requirements and manage the engineering relationship
-
Manage site data accuracy in Installbase (equipment records, commissioning dates) and ensure scopes of work align with contractual obligations and Tesla standards
-
Revise and maintain PM process documentation to reflect current field practices, regulatory requirements, and lessons learned from adoption verification data
-
Participate in triage, scoring with WSJF-lite, and contributing field insights to the Feedback Loop and monthly Business Metrics report out
-
Manage relationships with cross-functional teams including Data & Software Engineering, BOPS, Asset Management, and customer-facing teams to ensure effective collaboration across the initiative lifecycle
What You’ll Bring
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or equivalent work experience
-
Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, operations, or maintenance management with a focus on large-scale energy, power generation, or industrial asset management
-
Strong understanding of preventive maintenance programs, asset lifecycle management, and compliance reporting for commercial-scale facilities
-
Experience with CMMS platforms, asset tracking systems, and data quality management
-
Proven ability to define business requirements for software tools and collaborate with engineering teams to deliver data-driven solutions
-
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify systemic data quality issues and drive root-cause corrections
-
Familiarity with JIRA or similar project management tools for backlog management and prioritization
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical information for non-technical stakeholders and coordinate across field operations, engineering, and business teams
-
Solutions-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and measurable outcomes
