What To Expect
Consider before submitting an application:

This position is expected to start May 2026 and continue through summer term (ending approximately August 2026 or later, if available). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About The Team
The design team at Tesla conceives products that directly support the company’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. We care greatly about building products that stand the test of time, even as design and technology keep evolving. The industrial design team designs and develops all products that carry the Tesla brand, except for vehicles.

You will be involved with energy products, charging products, vehicle accessories, environments, packaging and on-product graphics. The scope of the work will range from hand sketches and renderings to 3D CAD modelling and building physical prototypes.

Location: Tesla Design Studio – Hawthorne, CA

What You'll Do

Provide creative and relevant conceptual thinking for a variety of projects

Utilize Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create visual presentations and design assets

Communicate designs through hand-sketching, rendering, and other visual storytelling techniques

Create detailed 3D CAD models using software such as SolidWorks, Alias, or Rhino to support design development

Engage in hands-on foam sculpting and physical prototyping

Collaborate cross-functionally with 3D digital modeling, engineering, retail development, and marketing teams to deliver effective and design solutions

Assist with graphic design tasks when needed, using a good eye for layout and visuals

What You'll Bring

Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Design or a related field

Humble, professional, and positive can-do attitude

Previous internship and/or project experience is a plus

Expected Compensation

$20.00 - $50.00/hour + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
