About the role

What to Expect

The Robotaxi Ops team sits at the center of scaling a fully driverless network—ensuring vehicles are safe, ready, and available while cost per mile stays down. This role owns Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and process risk control for Robotaxi upkeep: cleaning, charging, inspection and quality gates, data upload, FSD hardware inspection and maintenance, light service, retrofits, recurring inspections, and release back to the network. You will spend regular time on site, but the bar is not only hardening hub processes—you will work cross-functionally with design, vehicle engineering, Autopilot/FSD, charging, and service partners to fix failure modes at the upstream root cause so problems are designed out, not endlessly worked around in upkeep. Success is fewer safety and quality escapes, higher vehicle availability, stronger process control, and upkeep that grows with the network without scaling risk or cost.

What You’ll Do

  • Own Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, control plans, and risk registers for end-to-end Robotaxi upkeep processes
  • Identify failure modes that drive safety escapes, quality defects, vehicle downtime, and upkeep cost per mile; prioritize and drive mitigations to closure
  • Partner with design, vehicle engineering, vehicle firmware, Autopilot/FSD, charging, and service teams to push recurrent issues upstream and fix root causes in product and system design
  • Translate risk analysis into practical controls: release criteria, checklists, poka-yoke, training requirements, and audit cadence across sites
  • Use structured problem-solving (DMAIC or equivalent) and on-site observation to validate failure modes, close the loop on escapes, and verify mitigation effectiveness with data
  • Define and track process capability and control metrics (cycle times, escape rate, first-time-through, turnaround, hold time, control-plan adherence) and report actionable insights to leadership
  • Support process design reviews for new sites, vehicle configs, retrofit campaigns, and inspection standards so risk is assessed before scale

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of process, manufacturing, quality, or operations engineering experience; automotive or other high-volume / high-reliability operations preferred

  • Demonstrated ownership of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and control plans, including facilitating cross-functional risk reviews and working knowledge of Six Sigma / structured problem-solving (DMAIC or equivalent) and data-driven root cause analysis

  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional change with design and engineering partners—fixing issues upstream rather than only optimizing local processes

  • Comfort spending regular time on site with operations teams in active service, charging, and robotaxi hub environments

  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to turn technical risk analysis into clear actions for operators, engineers, and leaders
