About the role
What to Expect
In this role you’ll work closely with the Compliance Engineers. You will assist with product preparation and test, interface with regulatory bodies to plan and execute product and component certifications. Support the development and realization of automated test systems and manage test assets. Install and setup test samples and infrastructure (equipment).
You’ll be required to work on extra-low voltage, low voltage and high voltage systems both within the Tesla Laboratory and external testing facilities. Maintain ISO 17025 QMS accreditation, and the smooth running of the laboratory including the purchasing of consumables, equipment and services including calibration management.
A high degree of integrity and ethics are required for this regulatory role.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and instrument test samples, execute tests, record, and analyze results on power electronics and battery storage systems
- 3D CAD skills (preferred), schematic capture
- Assist with testing at in-house and local contract laboratories
- Support the debug of products and sub-systems
- Support the build and test of automated test equipment and peripherals
- Rework prototypes and printed circuit board assemblies
- Carry out duties as defined by the engineers
- Contribute to server rack building/debugging, mechanical fixture setup/teardown, and harness builds
- Operate tests using environmental chambers for thermal/humidity, vibration, and related equipment
- Design, build, and dismantle mechanical fixtures, often using T-slotted aluminum extrusion
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 2 years + of experience in an engineering development environment, with NEC NFPA 70 experience, previous lab environment
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, High Voltage/Power Electronics experience
- Strong soldering, electronics fabrication/prototyping, mechanical fabrication/prototyping skills, and wire harness skills
- Experience with sensors (ex. Thermocouples, flow sensors) and DAQ’s for collecting data
- Electrical fundamentals for building and debugging circuits in server racks
- Experience with common Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills, and trouble shooting skills
- Multi-tasking skills, with the ability to self-prioritize
