About the role
What to Expect
The Production Manager for the Optimus program is responsible for leading the production team to achieve the safety, quality, delivery & cost goals and objectives of the organization on new program launch and sustaining production. The Production Manager is responsible for achieving the production build plan, coaching the team to solve problems, and drive continuous improvement to achieve operational excellence. The Production Manager provides hands-on support, leadership, and direction to the production teams on all operational issues.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the production readiness and ramp for new and sustaining programs in terms of resources, hiring, training, identifying bottlenecks, driving process improvements, and solving critical problems - working cross functionally to unlock capacity
- Take a data driven approach and prioritize the problem solving and improvement initiatives based on KPIs/metrics and their business impact to achieve the organizational goals and objectives
- Achieve the weekly and monthly SPQRC KPI goals and build plan through active problem solving and continuous improvement. Teach the team how to do root cause analysis, problem solving and take a first principle approach
- Hire, coach and mentor Associate Managers and Supervisors to achieve excellence in their roles and maximize their potential. Build a high performing team, set clear expectations and manage their performance effectively
- Work cross functionally to implement process changes, new product introductions, improvement projects and corrective actions expeditiously in a controlled manner and measure the results
- Have a good technical understanding of processes, equipment operation, product quality requirement and work with Engineering and Maintenance to address issues and improve processes
- Work with HR and the production leaders to improve the morale of the team and create an environment in which team members want to come to work and perform at the highest level
What You’ll Bring
- 7-10 years of leadership and manufacturing experience in a highly technical Industrial environment
- Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience launching new programs and ramping production in high volume manufacturing
- The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, self-driven, critical thinker and able to proactively communicate with all employees and works well in a fast-paced multi-cultural environment and experience with process improvement methodologies to improve efficiency, increase yield and availability for manufacturing processes
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite:
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines with diligent follow-through. Hands-on experience implementing lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices
- Ability to use structured problem-solving methods and techniques to successfully resolve production problems and ability to collaborate with cross functional teams, foster a close working relationship with team members, peers and management
