What You’ll Do

  • Drive specification sheets required for sourcing Mechanical Equipment (Static and Rotating, i.e. pumps, tanks, agitators, heat exchangers)
  • Develop financial estimates for equipment for technoeconomic analysis inputs
  • Lead process equipment selection, including tradeoffs and design
  • Compile Request for Quotation (RFQ) Documents for vendors and complete technical bid evaluations for determining the best vendor for Tesla
  • Evaluate vendor capability to meet project technical and lead-time goals
  • Responsible for vendors, ensuring timely delivery of engineering deliverables and equipment
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, civil, controls teams to ensure prompt review and delivery of deliverables required for process equipment installation
  • Procure new equipment / change existing equipment design as needs arise
  • Develop commissioning and ramp plan including process setpoints, KPIs, and go/no-go criteria
  • Coordinate with production engineers to develop SOPs, Standard Operating Conditions, Alarm Rationalization, etc.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2-8 years experience in a mechanical engineering role with a focus in plant design including demonstrated practical experience in large operating plants/refineries
  • Strong fundamental understanding of engineering principles (e.g., mass & energy balances, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use first-principles reasoning to fill knowledge gaps
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
  • Familiarity with Mechanical Design Software preferred (Autodesk, Solidworks)
  • Experience analyzing datasets and using data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint) to build a business case or present data
  • Familiarity with International Codes and Standards (ASME, API, ISO, OSHA)
  • Willingness to travel to Project Sites (Up to 50% Travel)
