What to Expect

As a Cell Manufacturing Engineer, you will be on the forefront of bringing dry battery electrode manufacturing technology and 4680 battery cells to high volume production - making substantial contribution to the acceleration of sustainable energy.

You will join a team of talented and driven engineers to evaluate and internally develop mixing systems that enable advances in throughput, quality, performance, and cost in Dry Battery Electrode Manufacturing. You will work to develop and standardize the next generation of mass-production scale mixing systems and collaborate closely with our global manufacturing engineering team. This team also engages with the wider cross-functional cell engineering team to work on future factory design as well as solving technical problems, conduct diverse work activities, and have the opportunity to impact critical objectives.

What You'll Do

  • Work closely with the manufacturing engineering team and vendors to design, install, and commission equipment relating to powder processing systems, such as: powder conveyance, batching systems, extruders, mixers, mills and other supporting equipment relating to powder processing
  • Coordinate with manufacturing engineers to ensure mixing subsystems are properly scoped and trending for on time and under budget delivery into production
  • Coordinate equipment deliveries and be involved with on-site inspections
  • Develop new standards and processes to simplify future factory mixing systems design and build
  • Contribute to design reviews of multi-million dollar mixing subsystems and ensure that feedback is properly incorporated into the design
  • Engage with the cross-functional cell manufacturing team to align interfaces between mixing and the wider organization (factory design, supply chain, material flow, etc.)

What You'll Bring

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of industry experience in process development, manufacturing engineering, interdisciplinary/integrated engineering, or similar
  • Experience introducing new equipment and new processes into a production environment
  • Experience commissioning and handing over equipment as “production ready”
  • Experience designing components and assemblies. Familiar with engineering systems design and/or project management
  • Knowledgeable of manufacturing principles
  • Proficiency in Solidworks or alternative CAD package
