About the role

What to Expect
Battery Cells are the common denominator for every Tesla product. Our product requirements demand ground-up cell architectures with state-of-the-art performance, manufactured at volumes that are orders of magnitude higher than the products they power. Our environment is fast-paced and incredibly exciting, so being passionate and self-motivated to push your limits is critical. Our team works with engineering groups across various disciplines, requiring strong communication skills and a team-first mentality. You will work alongside seasoned industry experts, high aptitude recent graduates, and people from every stage in between. We look for anyone with an exceptional ability to solve problems in both individual and team settings.

This cell engineer will work with a cross-functional team to develop cell qualification plans to characterize initial cell performance, lifetime behavior, and cell reliability to identify critical failures and degradation modes.  This person will oversee test progress at internal/external labs and coordinate test priorities. In addition, this person will conduct analysis to identify risks for timely program decisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop cell qualification test plans based on cell build validation goals and program requirements
  • Conduct analysis to identify program risk and work with cross functional teams for failure analysis and corrective actions
  • Communicate cell level performance and risks across multiple engineering teams
  • Oversee test progress at labs across different sites to minimize test delays

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience with lithium-ion battery research, design, manufacturing, and testing
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects with complex requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics , or Equivalent Experience
  • Program management experience is a plus
