We thrive on giving families new favorite ways to eat well and cook less, simply and affordably. With curated in-store experiences and a streamlined assortment designed to inspire and save time, we understand the importance of food to our guests’ everyday life—from snack duty at soccer practice to important family gatherings and holidays. Join our centralized Food & Beverage team where you’ll partner with people from literally every area of the business. Here, you’ll help dream up new ways to offer our guests a reliably wonderful experience with the freshness, selection and value they expect and deserve from Target.
A role in Target’s Food Supply Chain is a chance to truly serve our guests with speed, freshness and quality. We strengthen the efficiency of product delivery and partner across Target’s Global Supply Chain to provide the highest quality food products to our guests—on time, every time. Here, your role might be extracting business insights from data, solving problem statements, conducting gap analysis and recommending focus areas for leadership. Or you’ll be an inventory management resource whose specialized point of view informs what we buy, from whom, how much and where it needs to go from there. You’ll leverage inventory positioning to achieve the best possible product availability and establish and develop great relationships with our vendors to encourage on-time delivery. Or join our team in a food distribution center where you’re on the very front lines of getting product to the guest as fast as possible—a critical differentiator that keeps Target guests coming back for more.
As a Sr. Analyst of Inventory Operations supporting Consolidation Strategy & Execution, you will play a critical role in developing and launching a new consolidation capability at Target’s Thornton, CO Food Distribution Center (FDC), opening this year. This capability is essential to achieving cost savings while maintaining reliability for a subset of Food & Beverage (F&B) vendors.
You will support both the initial rollout of consolidation vendors and future enhancements as the program evolves. Following implementation, you will execute consolidation inventory processes while minimizing additional workload for HQ teams, Food Distribution Center partners, and Target’s vendor community. Success in this role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with teams including Food Supply Chain, Merchandising, GSCL, Finance, PIM, and Product & Technology.
Key responsibilities:
- Own a subset of vendors from an upstream activation perspective, including strategy development and training for business units and vendor partners
- Partner with inventory and merchandising teams to execute item maintenance and system updates
- Manage inventory tracking and maintenance for assigned vendors, ensuring adherence to program guardrails
- Collaborate cross functionally to co-create solutions and long term strategies that support program objectives
- Support vendor selection by evaluating program fit against defined tenets and guardrails
- Provide regular updates to F&B leadership across multiple forums
Additional Responsibilities:
- Act as a liaison between Food Distribution Center partners and HQ teams, communicating issues proactively and reactively
- Manage check-in/check-out documentation and share feedback with HQ and downstream FDC partners
- Refine and standardize operating procedures within the facility (“four walls”)
- Monitor vendor performance, including ranking vendors and recommending removal when necessary
- Ensure accountability with routing and carrier partners
Core responsibilities outlined above may evolve based on business needs.
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of relevant experience in Inventory Management, Merchandising, and/or Supply Chain
- Demonstrated inventory management experience
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional partners
- Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and make decisions in fast paced or ambiguous environments
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to learn and innovate
- Flexibility and resilience; comfortable navigating change
- Knowledge of inventory management systems, processes, and cross-functional interactions
- Experience working with Target’s vendor community preferred
- Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed
- Willingness to travel occasionally
Work Expectations:
- Ability to work onsite at Thornton, CO Distribution Center as needed (initially ~2 days/week, with potential to increase to 5 days/week)
- When Consolidation goes live in 2026, work schedules may shift. As the program scales, you may be expected to work up to 4 days per week onsite at the Thornton, CO FDC, with 10-hour shifts from either Wednesday–Saturday or Sunday–Wednesday.
