Job Description: Staff Engineer

Position Description

Vocera now part of Stryker is looking for a Staff Engineer to deliver Cloud based applications by

• Coming up with technical solution leveraging the cloud infrastructure

• Inculcate effective coding practices and mentor team members as required

• Collaborate with product management to understand the user needs and contribute to the design of application

• Skilled cloud data Engineer who can design and solve complex technical problems.

• Proficiency in each layer of the technology stack required for developing the software product.

• Skill-set of backend server-side technology, database, application security, and DevOps with working knowledge in Angular or other BI tools

• What you will do:

Technical Responsibilities:

• Design and implement cloud-based applications and services related to live data streaming and storage.

• Conduct problem solving, identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against component and sub-system requirements

• Applying SOLID design principles and design patterns to address specific product needs.

• Actively engaging in continuous learning through peer review and professional development opportunities.

• Ensuring product quality by unit test, functional, and system tests in collaboration with automation engineers.

• Apply and mentor others on advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts across various products within the business unit.

• Generate and review the necessary documents with project teams. (requirements/design/architecture/bugs/test).

Preferred Qualifications (Strongly desired):

Technical Skills:

• Strong Working knowledge of Angular, node.js and API development

• Solid understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL), data warehouse, RESTful APIs, event-driven architecture, and microservices architecture.

• Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Python, Java and Scala.

• Experience with cloud platforms preferably GCP.

• Working experience with data streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka), GCP Pub-Sub, etc is good to have but not mandatory.

• Working knowledge in data modelling techniques and schema design for data warehouses will be added advantage

• Working knowledge of AI and machine learning is added advantage

• Knowledge of testing frameworks, version control systems (Gitlab, Git), and CI/CD pipelines.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering/ computer science or related discipline & 6-8yrs of work experience.

Travel Percentage: 10%
