Purpose of Role:
State Street Markets is seeking a Product Specialist in Tokyo to represent and deliver the suite of currency management and broader Portfolio Solutions products including Transition Management and Partnered Trading (in the future).
The Product Specialist role combines responsibilities including account management and onboarding, operational set-up, client servicing , relationship management and business development. We expect the successful candidate to be involved in all steps of the account and client life cycle.

Major Responsibilities:
The Currency Management team currently services approx. $380 Billion (as of December 2025) in assets under management for over 90 clients and 5,600 accounts globally.
The Currency Management team’s business operations are primarily based in the United States, EMEA and Australia. The Tokyo based Product Specialist will be responsible for servicing the Japanese and Asia Pacific client base, featuring predominately the large mutual / managed funds segment and asset owners.
Additionally, the Product Specialist will be responsible for representing the business to local senior management, providing oversight over the delegated Currency Management operations taking place globally. The role will have a material onboarding, operational, project management account management component coupled with business development and client management opportunities.
Role Summary/Description:
- Carry out day to day account management activities such as: account set-up, onboard, new fund launches and project management
- Engaging with senior management locally in Tokyo, representing the broader Currency Management business and the operations taking place globally. Providing monthly MI , participating to risk management and change management forums.
- Servicing existing clients on a day to day basis, providing day to day support to clients in the region, addressing queries and resolving time critical issues.
- Managing client change events
- Actively managing and developing client relationships. Providing clients with professional support on solutions design and any changes to product offering. Organising periodic reviews and managing/resolving follow-ups.
- Promoting Currency Management and multi-asset trading products to prospective customers. Actively liaising with the Portfolio Solutions sales force to facilitate cross sell opportunities
- Actively developing the client base and participating to the regional and Global Strategy design
- Be mindful of Risk Excellence. Operate in compliance with internal and external regulations and make sure that escalation procedures
Level of Education/ Specific Qualifications:
- Graduate Degree. MSC or Equivalent in Banking/Finance a plus.
- Native Japanese and English fluency required
Skills and Experience:
- The successful candidate should have 10+ years’ experience in a similar organization (or prime broker) within an operations/product role
- Solid understanding of Fund Accounts /Custody/ Transfer agent operations and how they integrate with an outsourced hedging provider.
- Solid knowledge of the lifecycle of a currency hedging mandate
- Strong Operational background.
