Role Summary
The Assistant Vice President – Business Analyst (AVP BA) will play a critical techno‑functional role supporting the **AUM (Assets Under Management)**and **RMS (Revenue Management System)**platforms. The role will act as a bridge between Finance, Operations, and Technology, owning requirements end‑to‑end while actively engaging in technology analysis, production issue triage, agile delivery, audit readiness, and observability.
This role requires a strong understanding of financial data flows, billing/accrual processes, and revenue systems, combined with the ability to debug issues at a functional and technical level, work closely with engineering teams, and ensure delivery excellence in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Functional Ownership
- Own and manage end‑to‑end business requirements for AUM and RMS enhancements across billing, accruals, invoicing, revenue projection, and reporting.
- Partner with Finance, Billing, Operations, and Control teams to translate business needs into clear functional and non‑functional requirements.
- Drive process improvements and automation opportunities to reduce manual effort, errors, and operational risk.
- Maintain functional documentation, business rules, and traceability matrices aligned to audit and compliance standards.
Techno‑Functional & Debugging Responsibilities
- Act as a techno‑functional SME for RMS and AUM platforms, understanding data models, integrations, workflows, and calculations.
- Perform first‑level analysis of production and UAT issues, including:
- Data mismatches
- Calculation discrepancies
- Workflow failures
- Integration or batch issues
- Work closely with engineering teams to triage issues, validate fixes, and ensure root cause analysis (RCA) is completed.
- Ability to read and interpret logs, SQL queries, batch outputs, and application behavior to support faster resolution.
Agile Delivery & Stakeholder Management
- Operate as a senior BA within Agile/Scrum delivery models, supporting:
- Backlog grooming and prioritization
- Writing high‑quality user stories with acceptance criteria
- Sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Tech Leads, and QA to ensure on‑time, high‑quality delivery.
- Proactively manage dependencies, risks, and stakeholder expectations across global teams.
Audit, Controls & Risk Management
- Ensure solutions are audit‑ready with appropriate documentation, controls, approvals, and traceability.
- Support internal and external audits, regulatory requests, and compliance reviews related to RMS and AUM.
- Embed controls, validations, and maker‑checker principles into functional designs.
- Partner with Risk and Control teams to address findings and remediation actions.
Observability & Operational Excellence
- Contribute to improving observability of applications by:
- Defining functional metrics, alerts, and dashboards
- Supporting monitoring of critical workflows (billing, accruals, invoice approvals)
- Help identify early warning indicators for operational issues.
- Drive continuous improvement in resiliency, stability, and supportability of platforms.
Required Skills & Experience
Core Skills
- 10–14 years of experience as a Business Analyst / Techno‑Functional Analyst in financial services or enterprise platforms.
- Strong domain knowledge of AUM, Revenue Management, Billing, Accruals, Invoicing, or Finance systems.
- Hands‑on experience working with complex data‑driven applications.
- Strong understanding of application workflows, data lineage, and integration patterns.
Technology & Tools
- Working knowledge of:
- SQL (data validation, analysis)
- Logs and basic application debugging
- Batch processing and interfaces
- Familiarity with Agile tools (JIRA, Confluence or equivalent).
- Understanding of application monitoring / observability concepts (logs, metrics, alerts).
Process & Governance
- Strong experience in Agile / SAFe delivery models.
- Experience working in audit‑heavy, controlled environments.
- Ability to produce clear, structured documentation for business, technology, and audit audiences.
Leadership & Behavioral Competencies
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across business and technology teams.
- Ability to operate with ambiguity and drive clarity.
- High ownership mindset with focus on outcomes, quality, and risk management.
- Mentoring junior BAs and contributing to BA practice maturity.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Prior experience with State Street‑like platforms (RMS, AUM, billing or finance systems).
- Exposure to cloud‑hosted applications and modernization programs.
- Experience supporting large transformation or migration initiatives.
- Certification in Agile / SAFe / Business Analysis.
