Leading company in the financial services industry
Head of Experience Design (India) - Vice President
Who we are looking for:
We are building a world‑class, global design organization to support multiple business lines across State Street. Our teams design complex, data‑rich platforms and consumer‑grade experiences used by internal teams, institutional clients, and partners worldwide.
This role is for a hands-on design leader based in India who can operate at both strategic and execution levels—leading across business lines while helping scale shared capabilities.
As Regional Head of Design for India, you’ll partner closely with global design leadership to drive consistency, craft excellence, and delivery velocity, while embedding designers directly into business priorities across multiple domains. You’ll lead leaders, mentor senior designers, and remain close to the work—setting the bar through thoughtful design decisions and execution.
This role is performed in a hybrid model, balancing time between home and office.
What you will be responsible for:
-
Provide regional leadership for Design in India, supporting multiple business lines and product portfolios
-
Partner with global Design, Product, Engineering, and Business leaders to align design execution with enterprise strategy
-
Guide design work from early discovery through delivery, while remaining hands‑on in critical flows, interaction models, and design reviews
-
Establish and reinforce shared design standards, patterns, and best practices across teams
-
Shape user journeys for complex, data‑driven workflows and support experiences
-
Collaborate with Engineering to ensure designs are technically feasible, scalable, and data‑accurate
-
Mentor and develop design managers and senior designers, providing clear direction, feedback, and coaching
-
Advocate for user‑centered design principles within a regulated, risk‑aware enterprise environment
-
Support other lines of business as needed, contributing design leadership beyond a single domain
These skills will help you succeed in this role:
-
Deep understanding of interaction design for both enterprise tools and consumer-facing products
-
Experience designing for enterprise, fintech, or regulated environments
-
Comfort translating ambiguous problem spaces into clear product direction
-
Ability to move fluidly between strategy and pixels—setting vision and designing key workflows
-
Strong communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional partners
-
Familiarity with modern design tools and prototyping methods (e.g., Figma, prototyping libraries, experimentation)
Education & Preferred Qualifications:
-
Min 20+ years of experience in product design, with experience leading complex, data-rich products
-
Degree in Design (Interaction, Graphic, Product), HCI, or related field a plus
-
Experience working within a large, regulated enterprise
Additional optional requirements:
-
Experience designing wealth management applications
-
Experience collaborating with AI/ML teams on production systems
-
Knowledge of accessibility standards for interfaces and data visualization
Are you the right candidate? Yes!
We genuinely believe in the power that comes from the diverse backgrounds and experiences our employees bring with them. Although each vacancy details what we are looking for, we don’t necessarily need you to fulfill all of them when applying. If you like change and innovation, seek to see the bigger picture, make data-driven decisions, and are a good team player, you could be a great fit.
