ROLE OVERVIEW
The Officer of Product Management, Private Markets is an early-to-mid career product manager who will play a critical execution role on the Private Markets product team. This individual will own specific product features and workstreams, partner closely with engineering and design teams, and support senior product managers in driving roadmap delivery. The Officer is an intellectually curious, highly organized individual who is eager to build deep expertise in private markets and develop into a well-rounded product leader. This role offers outstanding exposure to a complex, high-growth business and a direct path toward AVP and VP-level responsibilities over time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own delivery of assigned product features and workstreams end-to-end — from requirements gathering through sprint planning, QA, and release.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews, user testing sessions, and workflow analysis to generate product insights and inform design decisions.
- Write clear, detailed product requirements documents (PRDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria; maintain a well-groomed product backlog.
- Collaborate daily with engineering, design, and QA teams in an agile environment; participate in sprint ceremonies and manage cross-team dependencies.
- Analyze product usage data, support A/B testing initiatives, and prepare reports on feature adoption and business impact.
- Support the development of competitive intelligence materials, vendor evaluation frameworks, and market research summaries.
- Assist in managing third-party vendor relationships, including tracking integration milestones, documentation reviews, and UAT coordination.
- Coordinate cross-functional workstreams across investment operations, technology, compliance, and client services teams.
- Develop working knowledge of private markets asset classes, fund structures, investment workflows, and investor reporting requirements.
- Contribute to team-level OKR tracking, quarterly planning activities, and product retrospectives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of experience in product management, business analysis, investment operations, or a related field within financial services or fintech.
- Demonstrated ability to own and deliver product features in a cross-functional, agile environment.
- Strong analytical skills — comfortable interpreting data, building business cases, and presenting findings to stakeholders.
- Basic understanding of private markets, asset management, or financial products; genuine interest in developing domain expertise.
- Proficiency with product and project management tools (Jira, Confluence, Figma, or similar).
- Excellent written communication skills — able to produce clear PRDs, user stories, and stakeholder updates.
- Collaborative, proactive, and organized; comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
- Bachelor's degree required; coursework or certification in finance, computer science, or product management a plus.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior internship or full-time experience at an asset manager, investment bank, fund administrator, or private markets fintech.
- Familiarity with private markets platforms (Allvue, Juniper Square, Canoe, iLEVEL, Dynamo, or similar).
- Exposure to SQL, Python, or data analysis tools (Tableau, Looker, or similar) for product analytics.
- Understanding of fund structures including PE funds, credit funds, co-investments, and separately managed accounts.
- Interest in AI/ML applications within financial services and eagerness to develop product capabilities in this space.
CORE COMPETENCIES
- Curiosity & Learning Agility — eager to rapidly build domain expertise; asks great questions and synthesizes information quickly.
- Execution Discipline — detail-oriented and reliable; consistently delivers on commitments and proactively manages blockers.
- Communication — writes and speaks clearly; adapts tone and depth for technical and non-technical audiences alike.
- Collaboration — a natural team player who builds productive working relationships across functions and levels.
- Problem Solving — approaches challenges with structure and creativity; brings solutions, not just problems, to stakeholders.
- Growth Mindset — receptive to feedback, committed to continuous improvement, and motivated by long-term career development in product.
