Now Brewing – manager, corporate communications! #tobeapartner

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company—one that celebrates coffee and human connection, while striving to do business in ways that are thoughtful, responsible, and grounded in service to others. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this purpose and are driven to protect and grow a brand that matters to millions of people around the world.

As a manager on the Global Communications team, you will play a critical role in safeguarding and strengthening Starbucks’ reputation during moments that matter most. You will help lead integrated, high‑impact communications—particularly across digital and social platforms—with a focus on issues management, crisis response, and brand reputation protection.

This is a fast‑paced, highly visible role for a communications leader who thrives under pressure, brings sound judgment to complex situations, and knows how to translate strategy into clear, decisive action. You are both a skilled social media strategist and a strong storyteller, able to shape narratives, manage risk, and build trust with stakeholders inside and outside the company.

Who You Are

  • A calm, confident communicator who brings clarity, sound judgment, and empathy to complex or challenging situations.
  • An experienced social and digital strategist who understands how conversations move, escalate, and influence perception in real time.
  • A collaborative partner who can navigate ambiguity, align diverse stakeholders, and drive decisions forward.
  • A strong writer and editor with a sharp instinct for tone, timing, and audience.
  • Someone who is motivated by purpose and responsibility—and who takes pride in being an advocate and defender of brand trust.

This person will need to be experienced and enjoys engaging with reporters, editors, platform and channel owners, partners (employees) and key stakeholders.

As a manager, corporate communications, you will…

  • Drive digital and social communications strategy for issues and crises, ensuring Starbucks’ voice is timely, consistent, and aligned with our values across all channels.

  • Serve as day‑to‑day support for issues and crisis communications, coordinating cross‑functional teams and guiding response from identification through resolution.

  • Develop and execute integrated communications plans and campaigns that protect and elevate brand trust across owned, earned, and paid media.

  • Monitor, assess, and respond to emerging risks and issues across social, digital, and media landscapes, recommending proactive or corrective actions.

  • Provide real‑time strategic counsel and risk guidance to senior leaders and cross‑functional partners during high‑pressure, rapidly evolving situations.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Experience (5+ years) driving proactive narratives on corporate, campaign, advocacy-based or agency communications teams.

  • Proven media relations and writing capabilities

  • Demonstrated expertise in managing reputation online and in the digital eco-system.

  • An understanding of reputation-driven communications.

  • The ability to influence, inspire and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
