Spirit Airlines is seeking highly motivated, safety driven aviators to join our Flight Operations team as First Officers. We are a team oriented, guest focused airline committed to delivering safe, reliable, and friendly service. Our pilots work closely with colleagues in the flight deck, cabin, and on the ground to ensure every Guest enjoys a positive travel experience. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the aircraft safely and efficiently in accordance with all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company policies, and standard operating procedures
  • Work closely with the Captain to ensure safe, compliant, and timely completion of each flight
  • Maintain strong CRM, communication, and situational awareness throughout all phases of flight
  • Provide professional, friendly, and guest‑focused service consistent with Spirit’s brand
  • Collaborate with Flight Attendants, Dispatch, Maintenance, and ground teams to support a smooth, reliable operation
  • Adapt to operational changes, irregular operations, and evolving workload demands
  • Uphold Spirit’s values of teamwork, professionalism, and commitment to safety

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum age: 23 years
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) or Restricted ATP certificate with multi‑engine rating
  • 1,500 hours total flight time, including:
  • 500 hours fixed‑wing
  • 50 hours multi‑engine
  • 250 hours Pilot in Command (PIC)
  • 100 hours flight time in the preceding 12 months (recency of experience)
  • Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate
  • FCC Radiotelephone Operator Permit
  • Valid passport/documents with at least twelve (12) months of validity that grants you the ability to travel in and out of the USA and to all cities/countries served by Spirit Airlines now and in the future.
  • English language proficiency: must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Excellent communication skills and strong aeronautical decision‑making
  • High attention to detail and adherence to procedures
  • Ability to work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be willing to relocate or commute reliably to a Spirit pilot base
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and 10-year background check
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Note:

Total flight‑time requirements may be reduced for candidates entering through an approved cadet pathway or for eligible internal applicants who meet program‑specific criteria.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 500 hours turbine time
  • Experience in Part 121, 135, or military flight operations
  • Turbine or transport‑category aircraft experience
  • EFIS/FMS experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Instructor, evaluator, or check airman experience
