SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

WIRELESS INTEGRATION & VALIDATION ENGINEER (STARLINK MOBILE)

The Starlink Mobile network will expand Starlink’s vision by providing ubiquitous connectivity and seamless access to text, voice, and data for phones and devices across the globe. The Starlink Mobile network leverages the infrastructure we’ve built for Starlink and provides cellular service through an additional constellation of satellites.

As a wireless integration and validation engineer in the Starlink Mobile program, your focus will be on validating cellular radio access network (RAN) features, supporting interoperability and performance testing, and improving developer efficiency across the cellular protocol stack. You will collaborate with software developers to design, build, and validate new RAN features and then analyze the performance as they roll out across the network. You will develop integration and interoperability test cases to ensure the next generation of cellular devices work seamlessly across the Direct to Cell network.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with developers on new 4G and 5G cellular features and create automated tests to verify functionality and performance

  • Support integration and interoperability lab testing and field trials with OEMs and partners

  • Analyze and optimize new cellular features to improve network performance and reliability

Build tools and dashboards to provide insight into network performance

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or STEM discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience in software development in lieu of a degree

  • Experience with 4G and/or 5G cellular network validation and performance optimization; OR mobile device validation and certification

  • Experience with Linux

  • Experience with scripting/coding in Python

  • Experience with VCS (Git)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience with configuration management, version control software, continuous integration, and agile development

Experience with cellular networks technologies (4G, 5G) and debugging issues using tools such as Wireshark, QXDM, or XCAL

Experience with device and interoperability certification testing and/or supporting new product introduction (NPI)

Experience with test equipment include base station emulations, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes

Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment that includes working with changing needs and requirements

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to work extended hours and weekends when needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Communications integration Engineer/Level I: $135,000.00 - $155,000.00/per year
