Seeking an ambitious and goal-oriented technical expert with familiarity in products and technologies related to sealants and waterproofing. Relatable chemistries include reactive silanes, reactive (and nonreactive) polyurethanes, silicones, acrylics, epoxies, and various hybrid technologies. This individual will have responsibility for developing short and long-term technical strategies for the sealant and waterproofing categories. Candidate must be capable of identifying new technical knowledge and embracing novel approaches to assessing and developing technology. This position provides the opportunity to lead project teams and collaborate/influence stakeholders from multiple departments such as Commercialization, Marketing, Raw Materials, and Operations. This position is accountable for leading the formulation of new coatings technologies and development of new test methods through physical, technical, and other measurement techniques. As an integral leader in the Product Technology team, your technical expertise and organizational knowledge will help shape the future state of the business by developing technical strategy aligned with business growth drivers.

This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center located at 6745 Miller Road, Brecksville, OH 44141.

BASIC QUALIFICATION:

• Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
• Must be at least 18 years of age

FORMAL EDUCATION: Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (“STEM”) field

Preferred:

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required:

• Must have at least 10 years of relevant experience with sealants and/or waterproofing products and related chemistries
• Basic knowledge of statistics and data analysis
• Project leadership/management experience

Preferred:

• At least 15 years of relevant experience with broad exposure to diverse technologies spanning water-based and solvent-based in addition to sealant and/or waterproofing expertise
• Strong familiarity with product commercialization processes with understanding of how to mitigate risk as a new product progresses toward launch

• Utilize the stage gate process, project management and DFSS tools to effectively manage technical projects

• Collaborate with marketing and commercialization teams to align developed technologies to successful products
