The Senior Platform Engineer role is responsible for designing, building, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and maintaining platforms within the current technology environment. The role involves analyzing complex technical problems, developing appropriate solutions to maintain the overall integrity of the platform, including operating systems, hardware and software infrastructure that are critical to the company's user populace and application environments. They collaborate with other IT professionals such as Application, Architect, and Database Engineers to ensure that all components of the platform are working efficiently, securely, and resiliently. The Senior Platform Engineer uses their extensive knowledge of both traditional and modern platforms to ensure high performance and reliability of the company's infrastructure, including both cloud and on-premises systems, in support of DevOps efforts and general business and IT objectives.

The Senion Observability Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable observability
solutions for metrics, logs, and traces using tools like Open Telemetry, Grafana, and Prometheus; collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot performance issues, automate workflows, and drive continuous improvement in observability across on-premise and multi-cloud environments.

This position is not hybrid/remote and will be located at our Cleveland Headquarters office.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future

Education

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. In lieu of a degree, at least 7 years of
  experience in the role of Platform Engineer or related position

Preferred

• Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or AWS Certified DevOps
  Engineer preferred

Knowledge and Experience

Required

• 4-6+ years of experience in platform engineering and infrastructure components
• Experience in automated interaction with physical infrastructure
• Experience in managing and maintaining cloud-based environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Experience with monitoring and log management tools such as Nagios, Splunk, and ELK
• Experience in developing and implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies
• Excellent scripting experience in languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, and Terraform

Preferred

• Experience with Open Telemetry, including implementing distributed tracing, metrics, and logging
  for improved observability and performance monitoring
• Familiarity with Grafana LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir) for centralized logging, metrics
  visualization, and tracing
• Strong Kubernetes (K8s) skills, with hands-on experience in deploying, managing, and scaling containerized applications
• Proficiency with GitHub, including version control, branching strategies, and CI/CD workflows

• Maintain the platform hardware, software, and network requirements in alignment with business needs and organizational standards defined

• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise to continuously improve platforms in alignment with application goals

  organizational needs

• Collaborate with DevOps engineering and production team to update, troubleshoot and maintain platforms and environments to bring new features and services into production

• Identify, prioritize, implement and maintain automated and orchestrated fulfillment mechanisms to optimize delivery of key platform services

• Coordinate the tasks of other teams that work within the target platform to ensure smooth operations

• Identify and mitigate security threats to comply with a strict security compliance

• Develop and implement security and resiliency policies, standards, and procedures to protect the infrastructure and ensure compliance with regulations

• Produce high-level design documentation where required

• Conduct technical research regarding user requests for new/modified systems or problem resolution

• Manage vendor relationships and discussions related to design docs, platform changes, and other modifications, as needed
