Job Summary:

The Sr. Cost Accountant will be responsible for developing, implementing and/or maintaining a standard cost accounting system. They will prepare journal entries; maintain and reconcile ledger accounts, collect data, allocate costs and prepare reports on labor, equipment, depreciation, assembly or other operating expenses, ensuring that established procedures are followed. They will also be responsible for preparing financial statements and variance reports as requested.

Responsibilities:

Accounting and Financial Reporting ( 34%)

• Review standard material, labor, subcon fees and overhead costs
• Prepare journal entries and reconcile inventories to balance sheet
• Analyze gross margin, other cost of sales, inventory trends and turnover ratios, and production yield data
• Prepare audit schedules and footnote disclosures
• Support business unit and manufacturing groups with cost, manufacturing and inventory analysis
• Assist in complying with Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and internal control requirements

Inventory Accounting and Control ( 1%)

• Work with Manufacturing to plan and conduct physical inventories
• Reconcile physical inventories to SAP systems for applicable locations
• Validate vendor reconciliations performed by our logistics group and follow-up as required
• Understand and monitor inventory movements and the impact on the P&L

Reporting and Analysis ( 30%)

• Validate GAAP and non-GAAP P&L results by performing detailed analysis of ‘cost of sales’
• Support Product/Customer margin analysis by reviewing, correcting and reconciling SAP transactions that drive detailed corporate and business unit P&L reporting. Reconciliation involves detailed analysis of business activity by P&L account, profit center and company code
• Support the analysis of variances incurred during production and purchasing activities by reviewing production order variances and PPV

Business Process ( 35%)

• Ensure timely completion of month-end process for settlement of production orders and/or the review of production orders prior to settlement
• Support the maintenance material cost updates, activity and overhead rate updates
• Support the process of updating standard costs for new parts and the bi-annual cost roll

Minimum Qualifications:

• 6+ years of professional cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of the manufacturing process from raw materials through finished goods and cost of sales
• Hands-on experience preparing journal entries (not just reporting)
• Expertise in manufacturing variances, including deferred variance and inventory revaluation
• Experience with large enterprise-level ERP systems
• Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance
• B.S. degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Finance, or related field

Desired Qualifications:

• SAP experience
• Background in semiconductor or electronics manufacturing
• FP&A exposure or experience with heavy data analysis
• Familiarity with standard cost systems and biannual cost rolls

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is CAD $100,000 - $130,000. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee’s total compensation package.
