Scopely is looking for a **Senior Director, Associate General Counsel – Product & Privacy **to join our legal team in Culver City, CA or San Francisco, CA on a hybrid basis. This individual will be a part of the global Product & Privacy legal function, leading the company’s compliance strategy for privacy and data security and reporting to Scopely’s VP, Product, Privacy & Litigation.

Key responsibilities include managing Scopely’s privacy and data security compliance programs worldwide as well as providing privacy guidance to diverse teams for creating globally-compliant games, marketing strategies, and game platform technologies.

What You Will Do

  • Strategically drive Scopely’s global privacy and data protection program in partnership with cross-functional team leaders, embodying Scopely’s privacy-by-design mindset

  • Own and scale all global privacy compliance tooling and records in strong partnership with Info Sec and compliance leaders, conducting global data mapping, vendor reviews, global training, and managing internal- and external-facing notices and policies

  • Own global privacy and data security regulatory compliance programs for all Scopely products throughout their entire lifecycle, including compliance with GDPR, CCPA and other state privacy laws

  • Provide strategic advice directly to business teams on emerging privacy and data security laws and their business impact

  • Advise Product, Engineering, Info Sec, Compliance, Data Analytics, Business Development, Marketing, Customer Support, People, Advertising, User Acquisition, and other teams on legal and regulatory issues related to game development and data collection and use

  • Work with product teams to review products, features, in-game events, marketing, adtech, user acquisition, promotions, platform technology, and provide practical advice to manage legal and regulatory risk

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 12+ years of combined relevant experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department, preferably working within gaming, media, or other technology, with in-house
    gaming experience strongly preferred

  • A member in good standing of the California Bar or another bar association with the ability to register as in-house counsel in California

  • Significant experience advising on legal and regulatory considerations in the video game industry with a strong focus on privacy and data protection frameworks (e.g., GDPR,CCPA, COPPA, Privacy Shield, etc.)

  • Experience working with global teams cross-functionally and across time zones, with management experience strongly preferred

  • Attention to detail, problem-solving mentality, and ability to follow through in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

  • Strong academic credentials

  • Experience and comfort balancing legal risks with business strategy

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and re-prioritize based on changing needs

  • Sense of humor and a passion for mobile gaming

In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for equity, bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time off. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

CA, CO, NJ, NY, and WA Annual Salary Range**$230,000—$292,000 USD**
