Jobs
We’re seeking a Solutions Architect to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods.
As a member of our Enterprise Informatics team, you’ll work directly with top-tier customers, scientists, and developers to deploy, configure, and tune the company's high-end suite of molecular modeling and informatics applications and related systems. You’ll also maintain scientific computing resources and work with highly-skilled individuals in technically challenging software environments. In your conversations with our Product Managers, you’ll be the voice of the customer!
If you don’t consider yourself an expert in all of the fields below, that’s OK - we’re looking to hire an adaptable polymath who’s excited to learn on the job. Our highly collaborative team will be happy to help you get up to speed in any unfamiliar areas.
Who will love this job:
- A cloud computing expert who’s familiar with Kubernetes technologies on at least one major cloud provider (e.g. AWS)
- A passionate engineer who understands web-based applications (e.g., REST APIs, SAML/SSO backends, containerized workloads)
- A data wrangler who can craft ETL pipelines to manage complex data with multiple sources and destinations (e.g., SQL databases, JSON, flat files)
- A GPU computing enthusiast who’s administered HPC environments with distributed resource management systems, application deployments, networking and security, etc.
- A problem-solver with excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills in Linux environments, with high proficiency in writing code and scripts (e.g., Python, bash)
- A quick learner who’s driven to investigate and address emergent issues in multiple production-critical environments
- An excellent communicator who’s willing to go the extra mile to help our customers and travel to customer sites
What you’ll do:
- Ensure that our enterprise software performs optimally in the customer cloud environments
- Implement optimal deployment strategies and solutions for integration with customer internal systems and technologies
- Help customers solve thorny technical issues by cooperatively building creative, customized solutions
- Work closely with customers on installation, configuration, and update/maintenance of cloud-hosted software and infrastructure deployments
- Collaborate with product managers, scientists, and software developers to improve the deployment, support, and configuration aspects of our applications
What you should have:
- Extensive experience with Kubernetes technologies on major cloud providers (ideally AWS)
- Significant research data management background in the pharmaceutical industry (or similar scientific data space)
- Robust Linux experience (and proficiency in a scripting language like bash or Python)
- An interest in life sciences and/or physics (a formal academic background in the classical sciences is a plus!)
- Willingness to travel to customer sites frequently
We’d prefer to hire someone who has:
- Clear grasp of networking concepts (e.g., DNS, routing, firewalls, VPCs, NAT gateways)
- A greater-than-end-user's understanding of HPC systems
- Willingness for occasional travel to Schrödinger's offices and customer sites within the US
Pay and perks:
Schrödinger understands it’s people that make a company great. Because of this, we’re prepared to offer a competitive salary, stock options, and a wide range of benefits that include healthcare (with dental and vision), a 401k, pre-tax commuter benefits, a flexible work schedule, and a parental leave program. We have catered meals in the office every day, a company culture that is relaxed but engaged, and over a month of paid vacation time. Our Administrative and Human Resources departments also plan a myriad of fun company-wide events.
Estimated base salary range: $105,000 - $155,000. Actual compensation package is dependent on a number of factors, including, for example, experience, education, degrees held, market data, and business needs. If you have any questions regarding the compensation for this role, do not hesitate to reach out to a member of our Strategic Growth team.
