Flow controller – Downstream Planner
Job Title: Flow controller – Downstream Planner:
- The Flow Controller – Downstream Planner is responsible for managing downstream material flow, inventory control, job‑work coordination, and production readiness to support Standard and Engineering‑to‑Order (ETO) manufacturing. The role ensures on‑time material availability, optimized inventory, and seamless coordination across supply chain, production, and project teams to meet customer and project delivery commitments.
Downstream Planning & MRP Execution:
- Drive Material Requirements Planning (MRP) for raw materials, bought‑out components, sub‑assemblies, and finished goods. Define and maintain planning parameters such as lead times, safety stock, reorder levels, and lot sizes. Ensure material availability aligned with production schedules and project milestones. Support both standard production and ETO project requirements. Inventory Management & Control Maintain optimal inventory levels while balancing service level, cost, and working capital objectives for Job work vendors Analyse and resolve stock mismatches, shortages, excess inventory, and obsolete materials. Coordinate with Warehouse teams to ensure system accuracy vs physical stock. Continuously improve inventory health through data‑driven analysis. Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) Monitor supply constraints and proactively manage risks impacting delivery timelines for Long Lead items & Job Work materials Execute Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) to support downstream logistics and project demand for job work vendors Ensure timely replenishment of materials to meet customer and internal demand. Purchase Order & Supplier Coordination Manage and track purchase order portfolios for Job work vendors Follow up with suppliers for delivery commitments, expediting, and lead‑time adherence. Coordinate with SCM teams to resolve supply issues and improve supplier reliability. Support continuous improvement in supplier communication and planning accuracy. Job Work & Manpower Planning Plan and manage manpower requirements for internal manufacturing and external job‑work vendors. Coordinate with job‑work vendors to ensure material availability and manpower readiness. Track job‑work progress and ensure alignment with customer and project deadlines. Escalate risks related to capacity, manpower, or material shortages. Project Coordination & Integration Coordinate with Project Managers to create a clear integration and execution plan. Participate in project review meetings, highlighting planning risks and mitigation actions. Ensure synchronization between project schedules, material readiness, and production capacity. Cross‑Functional Collaboration Identify operational roadblocks and bottlenecks, propose solutions, and escalate to management when required. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning accuracy and execution efficiency. Work closely with SCM, Warehouse, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Project teams. Key Success Factors Strong analytical mindset with hands‑on experience in MRP and downstream planning. Ability to balance inventory optimization, resource utilization, and delivery performance. Excellent cross‑functional coordination and communication skills. Strong problem‑solving ability with attention to detail. Capability to work effectively in a fast‑paced ETO manufacturing environment.
