Job Summary: At Schneider Electric, we believe access to energy and digital solutions is a basic human right.
As part of our DCS 3‑Phase Productivity team, you will contribute to developing reliable, efficient, and sustainable power conversion systems for mission‑critical applications.
We are looking for a highly skilled Power Electronics Engineer with experience in high‑power conversion, validation, and system performance optimization for 3‑phase UPS products for QVE.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead design, simulation, and validation activities for high‑power conversion stages including DC‑DC, AC‑DC, and DC‑AC systems.
Perform testing and verification of high‑voltage, high‑power converters (DC‑DC, UPS power stages) to ensure performance, robustness, and compliance.
Support adaptation and validation of key UPS subsystems such as IGBT-based rectifiers, inverters, DC bus systems, static bypass circuits, filters, and magnetics.
Conduct in‑depth analysis including component stress evaluation, thermal analysis, EMI/EMC assessment, and derating studies.
Drive design-to-cost initiatives by optimizing components, identifying alternate suppliers, and enabling VA/VE improvements.
Ensure compliance with global standards (UL, CE, IEC) and support EMC, safety, and environmental qualification.
Prepare detailed test reports, summarize findings, and recommend next steps for corrective or preventive engineering actions.
Utilize advanced test equipment (oscilloscopes, AC/DC loads, power sources, probes) for debugging and performance characterization.
Analyse existing 3‑phase UPS designs to identify opportunities for reliability, manufacturability, and cost improvements.
Collaborate with Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Quality to drive cross‑functional design changes and product enhancements.
Support supplier evaluation for new components to strengthen supply chain resilience and reduce product cost.
Qualifications: B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field. 6–10 years of experience in power electronics design, ideally with 3‑phase UPS systems up to 2 MW.
Strong understanding of magnetics, fuses, gate drivers, semiconductor devices, MCUs, and FPGA‑based control systems.
Hands‑on experience reviewing PCB layouts for EMI/EMC, creepage/clearance, and thermal optimization.
Solid experience in digital, analog, and power electronics circuit design, testing, and debugging.
Exposure to NPI, QVE, productivity, or value‑engineering programs.
Proficiency with electrical CAD tools such as Cadence, Altium, or equivalent.
Knowledge of 3‑phase AC electrical systems including harmonics, power factor, grid protection, and safety fundamentals.
Experience: with DCS/PLC communication and integration.
Familiarity with modeling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM, or PLECS.
