As a Control Systems Engineer Intern, you’ll be part of a dynamic team working on real-world projects that drive innovation and sustainability.
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the Foxboro Distributed Control System (DCS), industrial networking, and cybersecurity infrastructure.
You will work alongside senior engineers to design, configure, and document complex automation solutions for industrial environments.
This is more than an internship—it’s a launchpad for your career.
What will you do?
System Design Support: Assist in developing system architecture drawings using MS Visio/CAD and audit Bills of Materials (BOM) for project accuracy.
Software & Hardware Configuration: Install and configure Foxboro DCS software suites, perform database entries, and assist with server/workstation setups.
Cybersecurity & Networking: Support the configuration of secure networks, including MESH/ACN switches and firewall rules under the guidance of senior staff, Mc Afee ePO Project Documentation: Maintain Software Matrices, update system health checklists, assist in the creation of Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and commissioning documents.
System Testing: Participate in FAT activities with clients, helping to validate that system components meet client requirements
Technical Skills You Will Gain:
Exposure to Foxboro DCS hardware and software.
Knowledge of industrial networking protocols and cybersecurity tools (Fortinet, Mc Afee).
Practical experience with Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPOs) in an industrial setting.
Understanding of backup and recovery solutions like Veritas.
Who will you report to?
You’ll report to the Engineering Manager and collaborate closely with the Systems Engineering Team.
You’ll also connect with interns across NAM through our intern community and events.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field (Graduation dates between December 2026 and May 2028 strongly preferred).
Technical Aptitude:
A strong interest in industrial automation, robotics, or large-scale IT infrastructure.
Demonstrates good judgment in selecting technology, methods, and techniques for developing solutions for our control system projects Tools: Basic proficiency in MS Visio or CAD software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Mindset: Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills and a "safety-first" mentality.
Communication: Team Player with ability to work collaboratively with senior internal personnel and to engage professionally with customers.
