Business Systems Developer Job Summary The Business Systems Developer will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting data-driven applications and analytics platforms.
This role focuses on building reusable data objects, scalable data pipelines, report queries, and automated workflows, as well as transforming data for operational and analytical use.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in application support, data engineering concepts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities Application & Data Development Design, develop, and maintain reusable data objects, datasets, and data services to support business applications and analytics use cases.
Build and optimize data pipelines to ingest, transform, and deliver data from multiple sources in a scalable and reliable manner.
Develop and maintain report queries to support dashboards, operational reporting, and ad-hoc analysis.
Implement data transformations (cleansing, normalization, aggregation) to ensure data quality, consistency, and usability for downstream applications.
Automation & Workflow Enablement Develop and maintain automated workflows using Python to support data processing, application events, and business processes.
Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation and reusable components.
Monitor and troubleshoot workflows and pipelines to ensure performance, reliability, and data integrity.
Application Support & Collaboration Provide mid–senior level technical support for application functionality and data-related issues.
Partner with product/process owners, business analysts, business process analysts, other digital teams and end users to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Support testing, deployment, and release activities, ensuring solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements.
Documentation & Best Practices Create and maintain clear technical documentation for data objects, pipelines, queries, and workflows.
Apply best practices for version control, security, performance tuning, and maintainability.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, coding standards, and architectural guidelines.
Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience as a Systems Developer, Application Engineer, Data Engineer or similar role.
Proven experience developing data pipelines, reusable data assets, and report queries in a production environment.
Hands-on experience developing and supporting business applications that rely on structured and semi-structured data.
Technical Skills Strong proficiency in Python scripting, data transformation and integration tools Strong proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with relational databases and cloud data platforms.
Familiarity with workflow automation tools for orchestrating and optimizing business processes.
Working knowledge of version control systems (e.g.
Git) and CI/CD concepts to support collaborative development and deployment.
Familiar with cybersecurity concepts and practices
Experience: in Oracle SQL scripting is an advantage Familiarity with .NET programming is an advantage Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills Strong ability to analyze data issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
Experience: translating functional requirements into scalable technical designs.
Communication & Collaboration Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong collaboration skills and experience working in cross-functional, agile, or hybrid teams.
