We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Component Engineer to support the development and lifecycle management of components used in UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and PDU (Power Distribution Unit) products.
The role involves evaluating, qualifying, and managing electrical and mechanical components to ensure product reliability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Component Selection & Qualification Identify and evaluate suitable components for new and existing designs.
Perform technical assessments and risk analysis of components.
Collaborate with design teams to ensure component compatibility and performance.
Supplier & Lifecycle Management Interface with suppliers for technical data, samples, and qualification support.
Monitor component lifecycle status (e.g., EOL, PCN) and propose alternatives.
Maintain approved vendor lists and component databases.
Compliance & Standards Ensure components meet regulatory and environmental standards (RoHS, REACH, UL, IEC).
Support documentation for compliance audits and certifications.
Cost & Reliability Optimization Drive cost reduction initiatives through alternate sourcing and design optimization.
Analyze field data and failure reports to improve component reliability.
Cross-functional Collaboration Work closely with procurement, quality, design, and manufacturing teams.
Support V&V and QVE teams with component-related testing and validation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in Electronics Engineering, or related field. 7–8 years of experience in component engineering, preferably in power electronics or data center products.
Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical components, BOM management, and supplier interaction.
Familiarity with component databases (e.g., Silicon Expert, Z2Data), PLM systems, and ERP tools.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Attributes:
Experience: with UPS and PDU product lines.
Exposure to supply chain risk management and cost optimization strategies.
Ability to work in a global engineering environment with cross-functional teams.
