The development center of SAP in Bulgaria plays a key role in the defining and developing of the SAP Business Technology Platform. With its more than 1700 professionals, SAP Labs Bulgaria also has strong contributions toward life-cycle management, user interface & user experience across the broader portfolio of SAP products and business applications. What you`ll build
We are looking for an AI Software Developer who can drive (gen)AI development and lead our engineering scrum teams as technical code and architecture owner. The candidate will have profound skills in Data Science, Data Engineering and Software Engineering for our IT agile team, with an entrepreneurial spirit to join our diverse team and work on innovation projects.
In this role, you will drive internal AI adoption across different Lines of Business (LOBs) within the company. You will collaborate with other engineers to develop AI services, taking projects from proof of concept to full production deployment. This position involves close partnership with AI Platform engineers and stakeholders from various departments. You will work with cross-functional teams to contribute to our evolving AI-first tech stack, address diverse and rapidly changing challenges, and thrive in a fast-paced environment that offers continuous learning. Additionally, you will help define and promote best practices for AI engineering excellence throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop AI services from Po
C to Production:
Setup and develop new Big Data pipelines, to productize data ETL workloads for different AI services
Develop GenAI/AgenticAI solution designs
Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions
Productionize AI Po Cs with good software engineering by incorporating CI/CD pipelines, deployment and MLOps/LLMOps
Take ownership over AI services in development and production
Guide and mentor junior colleagues and evolve their AI engineering skillset
What you bring
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Strong Python skills:
Experience with backend frameworks (Flask, Django, FastAPI, etc.)
Solid grasp of software engineering principles and agile teamwork
Familiarity with tools like Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, VSCode, Linux
Exposure to CI/CD and ML Ops (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, MLFlow)
Cloud experience (Azure ML, Databricks, AWS/GCP equivalents)
Fluent English and a collaborative mindset
Understanding of Agile/SAFe methodologies
Nice to have but not a must
Knowledge of Distributed Computing Systems for Big Data Engineering such as Databricks (PySpark/Scala)
Hands-on experience with genAI / agenticAI frameworks such as crewAI, langgraph, etc.
Expertise in code-based LLM consumption from platforms like Open
AI or Huggingface:
Curiosity to explore different AI applications and emerging technologies
Experience with SAP AI offerings such as AI Core, AI Business Services, Joule

We implement both standard SAP AI and custom built solutions across all Lo Bs. We are customer zero of SAP standard AI solutions and provide continuous feedback to standard development for product improvement. We provide an AI Platform and Infrastructure to entire SAP AI practitioners for building their own ML solutions in the entire ML lifecycle following MLOps methodology. Furthermore, we build and operate a central chatbot platform based on SAP Conversational AI with the aim to provide capabilities from all lines of business through a single digital assistant. We also build those capabilities (individual chatbots) as well as support other teams in building further ones.
