We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
Meet the team:
Within SAP's Intelligent Contracting organization, this role is the business brain of the engineering team. You will be the product owner and business counterpart embedded in a development team building AI-powered contracting capabilities on top of SAP's landscape of tools for Contracting (e.g. Icertis). You connect what the business needs with what the team builds - owning requirements, shaping the backlog, and ensuring every sprint delivers real contracting value.
What you'll do:
Requirements & Backlog:
-
Own and prioritize the product backlog for AI contracting features
-
Translate business and legal stakeholder needs into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
-
Make fast, informed decisions on scope and trade-offs during development.
Business-Tech Bridge:
-
Serve as the primary interface between business stakeholders (Legal, Commercial) and the development team as well as neighboring IT teams
-
Validate that implemented AI features reflect real contracting logic and legal intent.
-
Work closely with legal content engineers to ensure AI outputs are grounded in business rules and contractual standards.
Product Discovery:
-
Identify and prioritize use cases where AI creates measurable value in the contracting lifecycle.
-
Run discovery workshops with legal and procurement users to surface pain points and opportunities.
-
Evaluate AI model outputs and guide iterative improvement based on business feedback.
Delivery & Adoption:
-
Support UAT, demos, and rollout of AI features to contracting stakeholders.
-
Define and track success metrics - cycle time reduction, risk coverage, adoption rates.
-
Contribute to change management and documentation for new AI capabilities.
What you bring:
Experience:
-
5+ years in contract management, legal or legal operations; business analyst and/or development background in addition are a plus.
-
Experience working in or closely with software development teams (agile/scrum environment).
-
Familiarity with contract lifecycle management platforms (Icertis experience a strong plus).
Skills:
-
Confident writing user stories and acceptance criteria; ideally with SAFe or Scrum certification.
-
Able to read and challenge technical designs without writing code.
-
Strong grasp of contracting concepts: clause libraries, playbooks, risk frameworks, obligation management.
-
Clear communicator — equally fluent with lawyers and engineers.
Mindset:
-
Ownership mentality: you treat the backlog like your product, not a to-do list.
-
Pragmatic - you know when good enough ships faster than perfect.
-
Curious about AI and eager to learn what's possible, not just what's been done before.
Ideal Background
A strong candidate has come from one of these paths:
-
Legal/contract operations professional who moved into product or delivery roles.
-
Business analyst with deep CLM platform experience.
-
Product owner in a legal tech or procurement tech context.
