What you’ll build:

Iron Core is SAP’s next-generation open-source cloud infrastructure based on Kubernetes. We manage physical servers, storage, and network infrastructure with Kubernetes controllers - providing a modern cloud platform to SAP developers and customers. Iron Core uses a Software-Defined-Everything approach and hardware offloading to deliver a flexible, high-performance base layer for application deployments.

The Role:

As a Developer (f/m/d) focused on network-fabric automation, you’ll build and extend features for Iron Core’s kubernetes-native network fabric abstraction. You’ll implement Kubernetes operators, integrate vendor APIs/SDKs, and automate underlay networking and service connectivity in IPv4/IPv6-first scenarios. You’ll handle feature implementation, integration testing, bug fixes, CI/CD upkeep, and documentation to ensure maintainable releases. Your work will increase platform stability and delivery velocity, bringing new network capabilities to teams faster and enabling safer, more predictable operations in our cloud data centers. You’ll also collaborate across the stack (Go/Rust), with most work open source

What you bring:

• 2+ years Go (or strong ramp-up); Rust a plus.
• Kubernetes proficient: CRDs/controllers; deploy and debug in clusters.
• Linux & containers: basics of virtualization; solid troubleshooting.
• Networking practical proficiency: IPv4/IPv6, TCP/UDP/TLS; BGP and rounting protocols; security is a plus
• SDN & fabric automation: integrate vendor APIs/SDKs (gNMI, REST, gRPC); build adapters.
• Cloud-native delivery: testing, CI/CD, basic observability (Prometheus).
• Behaviors: ownership, learning mindset, clear communication, collaboration
