What You'll Build

The SAP Internship Experience Program is SAP's global, strategic, paid internship program that provides university students with opportunities to find purpose in their careers. This is more than an internship — it's the foundation for a career built on connection, creativity, and impact.

Commerce Storefront Engineering:

  • Design and build scalable commerce storefront features with a modern full-stack approach — frontend (React / Next.js) and backend (Go, Node.js, or the right tool for the job).

  • Implement high-performance UI components leveraging SSR / SSG for SEO friendliness and fast load times.

AI-Native Development Workflow:

  • Treat AI as your default pair programmer — use tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or ChatGPT as a core part of your daily workflow, not an afterthought.

  • Leverage AI to generate boilerplate, write comprehensive tests, accelerate debugging, refactor code, and explore unfamiliar codebases at speed.

  • We care about output and velocity, not which language you use. If AI helps you ship better code faster, that's the point.

Serverless & Edge Architecture:

  • Develop backend logic and APIs using Serverless functions.

  • Optimize content delivery strategies using CDN capabilities to minimize latency and handle high-traffic events for global shoppers.

  1. Performance Optimization
  • Monitor and improve Core Web Vitals to guarantee a smooth and responsive experience across all devices and network conditions.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stays curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

  • Availability: Must be able to commit to a continuous internship for at least 6 months.

  • Education: Currently pursuing a full-time Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • AI-Native Mindset (Must-Have): You already use AI coding assistants daily and can demonstrate how AI tools make you meaningfully more productive. We'd love to hear specific examples.

  • Programming Fundamentals: Strong in at least one backend language (Go, Node.js / TypeScript, Python, or similar) and comfortable picking up new ones quickly — with or without AI assistance.

  • Frontend: Hands-on experience with React; familiarity with Next.js is a plus.

  • Infrastructure Awareness: Basic understanding of web protocols (HTTP), CDN caching strategies, and Serverless computing concepts (e.g., AWS Lambda, Vercel, Cloudflare Workers).

  • Problem Solving: Enthusiastic about new technologies with a strong ability to solve problems using documentation, AI tools, and first-principles thinking.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Go — even side projects or coursework counts.

  • Experience building e-commerce platforms or familiarity with Headless Commerce architecture.

  • Active open-source contributions or a portfolio of full-stack personal projects on GitHub.

  • Experience with edge computing platforms like Vercel Edge or Cloudflare Workers.

  • Familiarity with prompt engineering, AI agent workflows, or LLM-based toolchains.
